Well it totally normal to feel that way. I have been robbed before and it's scary. But get something to defend yourself with. Just keep remembering where your neighbors are. Keep the doors locked. Watch t.v. It helps me.

Just make your self feel safe. Find out where sertain things are in the house that you could use to defind your self. Ask someone to buy you pepper spray and take it with you. Make sure all doors and windows are locked. Maybe this will make you less parinoid. Just become prepared.

Hey! Woman! It's copletly normal!! lolz. It happened to me the first cupple of rimes i was babysiting.
How i overcame my fear is by locking all the doors when it starts to get dark, or right when the parents leave. The only reason im not afraid to do that is because the parents should always have a key to the house and so should you, only when your babysiting.
What i also did was have like an emergancy pack in case something happens to the house or someone tries to brake in.
And what i have in that pack is emergancy phone numbers. Extra Food That will stay goof for awhile. Stuff like that. And try to do stuff with the kids.Maybe that will help you feel a little bit more calm! Stuff like that! ]
Hey. This is completely normal! It happens to me too lol. What I do is lock all of the doors and watch a funny movie. Then I call my friends which makes me feel more secure since I'm actually talking to someone and not all alone. As long as the phones near you, some ice cream, and a funny movie, you'll be fine. I really hope this helped and good luck! =) ]
Have the doors locked, have your rents and police on speed dial.Just chill.Watch a Romantic Movie - not a scary one.Read a book. And eat. You'll be fine.God is with you too xx ]
This is a totally normal thing. I get creeped out even in the day when I have to stay alone. But luckily I have my pets to keep me company.
You can't exactly make yourself "stop" being paranoid. But you can feel better by calling your parents or a friend, just to chat. You'll feel better just hearing their voices.
And it's always good to play with the kids you're babysitting. Play with them to distract yourself from feeling so paranoid. And when they go to bed, call your parents or a friend, and then just try watching a movie or a show you like. Eat some good snacks. If it's okay with the people you're babysitting for, ask if you can go on their computer to sign on IM or Myspace to talk to people. Or hey! You can always come on Advicenators and talk to us!
Here are some little things you can do to help you be and feel safer:
-Lock the doors AND windows
-Close all the drapes
-Turn on as many lights as you can
-Turn on the radio and DANCE! Don't be afraid to dance and have a little fun.
-Don't answer the phone, or if you have to, don't tell the caller tha you're alone. tell them the parents are busy and can't come to the phone.
-Do not stand near the windows
-Keep the phone near you at all times. It will help you to feel safer, to know that if something happens (which it probably won't) you can quickly call 911.
-Bring some good snacks & movies, but don;t watch scary movies. ]
wow i had that same problem!
call a friend, keep the phone near you always, watch funny movies/tv shows, and keep all the lights on!
you'll be fine!! =)
hope i helped! ]
This is normal. Know that you really ARE safe. After the kids are in bed, call one of your friends, occupy yourself so you're not so worrisome. ]
Call a friend! If you have a cell, use that, so that you don't tie their lines up. Bring a magazine, some homework. Watch TV or bring a funny movie. If you're allowed or if they have one, go on the computer. Just keep yourself BUSY! Have some noise going so that if you hear a random noise, you don't get completely paranoid. Keep the lights on! hahah . Don't worry I have the same exact problem as you. And these all help <3 ]
try watching a movie i get paranoid like that but do something else and relax think about a goal or acheivement ]
Okay.
Maybe you can make a list of phone numbers: people you can call if there's ever trouble.
Keep a phone near you all the time
& Maybe even learn some self defense
but ..
there's also reading [books or magazines]
listening to music, tv or movies, even eating or playing a game
will take your mind off your worries :] ]
