Lose Weight.

Question Posted Monday January 15 2007, 1:19 am

okay, so heres the deal. i want to lose weight, maybe like 20 pounds-ish [im like 165 right now] by spring break, or sometime around there.

i dont have access to a gym or anything, but at my house i do have an ab lounge, a total gym, a treadmill, and a weight lifting machine thing [[its called the "weider pro" or something.. it has three arm workout things, and one leg thing]].. and i know my mom has stretch band things, and like two 2-pound weights..

so basically what i am asking, is what kind of work out things can i do to get more in shape and everything.. that can include going for runs or whatever outside.. but any suggestions? please & thank you

Do what every one else is saying on this page, but don't forget...

*Eat breakfast
*Don't eat 3 hours before you goto bed
*Get enough sleep!

Contrary to what people think, eating breakfast WILL NOT MAKE YOU FATTER. Instead, NOT eating breakfast will make you fatter. This is because your body automatically stores fat for when you do not eat.

Hope I helped!

okay, 60 minutes of cardio a day. get your heartbeat up.
also, you don't have to cut out all junk, but keep it in moderation.
the whole thing about lower fat and calorie meats is good, but keep the dairy up, and don't eat less than 1,500 calories a day, or your body will go into starvation mode. also, a little chocolate won't hurt, and nachos with cheese if fine, just don't overdo it. stick to serving size.

well i think cardio atleast 30 mintues a day is great. and if you wanna tone your arms or something, you can get like two or three pound weights and run with them. cruches are very good too. the ab lounge is great. the one at my gym is very cool, so i suggest do like a bunch of cruches after cardio. if you wanna start off with sort of diet, i hav one that's really helped me loose weight, and i've only been on it for like three days, and I already see the difference. eat oatmeal with every meal. and uyoucan hav it w/ a salad or with vegetables if u want. do this for about a week. if you want to continue it, you can, but don't forget to exercise. the more exercise you do w/ it, the better. lets seee,,, ooooo yea dont forget that you hav 2 get off the oatmeal slowly, so what you can probably do is don't just stop eating it right away, start eating it maybe 2 meals a day the next week instead of three, etc. drink lots of water too hope i helped, and good luck (:

I would go shoot for a combination of resistance training and cardio, on alternating days (and one day off). It is possible to focus just on cardio, but I think this combination gives you more health benefits, tones you up, and keeps you from losing muscle mass during the diet.

For best results for weight loss try doing your cardio in the morning before breakfast and try to go over 30 mins. I personally dont have the willpower to get up that early, but if you do its an advantage.

Running, indoor or outdoor is a perfectly good cardio.

For resistance training try doing a three day split. I think you should be able to simulate quite a few gym workouts with the total gym, though Ive never actually used one. Anyway, push, pull and legs is a good split. Push includes your chest, shoulders, triceps. Pull includes your back and biceps. I think you are better off with a full routine like this, rather than using the strectch bands or small weights. If you need help with exercises just ask. Aim for each workout to be 45 mins to one hour.

Here are a few nutrition tips:
- Eat 4- 6 meals a day evenly spaced out every 3-4 hours.
- Drink plenty of water and take a multi vitamin.
- Avoid saturated fats as much as possible (animal fats are usually "bad").
- Make sure you intake the right amount of essential fatty acids (and particularly omega 3 which tends to lack in the western diet).
- Each meal should be balanced, and based around a good protein source e.g. skinless chicken/ turkey, tuna, cottage cheese, egg whites, lean meat etc. A good sample meal could thus be 100- 150g skinless chicken breast, 50g whole wheat pasta and a small salad with olive oil.
- Needless to say remove all the "crap" from your diet (empty calories from junk foods, things with sugar added to them etc.).

Remember, the best way to lose the weight and feel great is to be active, to eat smart and give your body the right fuel, and to get plenty of rest.

Good luck

I'm starting to work out too! im getting ready for summer and swim suit! :) I have access to a gym and cardio seems to be the number one thing.. basically running around the track, or in yourcase treadmill.. maybe even the neighborhood, or somewhere outside. Running or walking is good. I would start off by walking/running a mile everyday. Then it is up to you! You could do lunges, crunches, your ab machine, use your bands for legs/arms or you can do more cardio. Maybe you could do a different thing each day.. one day abs, next day arms, and so on.
The other thing that you need to do is HEALTHY foods. Yeah you can excersize, but it does nothing unless you eat healthy too. Try to have 1 sweet a week. Watch our for carbs. why carbs? carbs are basically sugars which turn into fat. not good.

i hope this helps. Its not much but it should get you off to a good start
