how can you tell? Is there any way?
I like this guy but I have heard that he may be gay is there any way of telling ?

Well usually you can't obviously decide whether he is gay or not. You could ask him, yet if you don't like the idea, I do have some tips:
As a note aside, I am not against homosexuality by any means, so if these tips offend you or anyone else on this site, nor being "stereotypical" I sincerely apoligize but I will make this is neutral as I can:
From what I heard (not from me)..
*Some homosexuals walk differently. Not all; just some. They may walk like a girl or just walk how straight guys wouldn't walk.
*Their personality. As a stereotype, many people think of homosexuals as "metrosexuals" or "feminists". Not necessarily true in all homosexual men. They may have more feelings than a guy would. They may be more expressive, and more open to things than straight guys.
*Some homosexual men do flings with women. Some times for fun, and some times from peer pressure. And then there are some who rarely or never date at all. They may hang out with more women than men. They don't have to be a pimp or player, but some homosexual guys do that.
*Their voices. Many people give me that their voices just mean everything. I don't agree to this but 95% of the guys who have
high-pitch voices, tend to be homosexual. I know many guys who are homosexual and have the lowest-pitch voices possible.
*How they act around different genders. Does he flirt with other guys (that you suspect of)? Does he just hang out with girls as "friends"?
*Also how some dress. A lot of homosexual men dress in clothes straight men wouldn't be caught wearing. They may have tight clothing on, bright-colored shirts (but since this is widely popular in men it's hard to give that out as a hint).
But personally in my opinion, you can never really find out what his sexual orientation is just by looking at him and tuning in with the rumors that people give out. He may dress weird, or act weird (hypothetically) but all people are like that at some extent, so it's hard telling..
So your best bet is to personallty ask him, even you would feel uncomfortable with it. Let him know that you can be trusted with this, too if he ever admit to his sexual orientation (whether homosexual or staight).
And stereotypes aren't very accurate, so don't completely go by them when trying to tell what his orientation is.

For starters, you shouldn't always believe what you hear.
If you like him, and you want to go out with him, ask him out. What's the worst he can say?
But if he says no, that doesn't mean he's gay. He could be saying no for other reasons.
If he is gay, he most likely isn't going to come right out and tell you if you aren't someone close to him.
There is no way of telling if a person is gay unless they say so or have it tattooed to their forehead. That's because gay people are normal people just like you.

There is no way to automatically be able to tell if someone is gay or not. And seeing as around 1 in every 10 people is, chances are you know all sorts of gay people who have not told anyone about their sexuality.
Where did you hear he was gay? From sources that you can trust, people you actually think have inside knowledge of the guy you like?
An option you've got is to do what you would do with any guy you liked. Depending on your personality, that might include asking him out, flirting, or trying to be friends first. If he's straight and likes you back, super. If he's straight and doesn't like you in that way, or is gay, at the very least you might end up with a friend.

there's no other sure way to tell, seriously, get to know him better until you feel comfortable enough to ask him. if he turns out to be gay, then great, you've got a gay friend, they're awesome anyway.

Rumors are rumors and you can't believe them and such stuff. There are no base for rumors.
Asking him if he's gay might offend him so I wouldn't ask.
But if he is, and he's ready to come out, you'll know by his actions. But if he isnt, you can't quite tell unless he is open with you and is willing to tell you
