Scared

Question Posted Friday December 29 2006, 1:22 am

13/f. I'm not really scared of the dark or anything, but here latley i've been getting really scared. see, since it's been christmas break i've been staying up until around 3:00a.m. because i don't have school the next day (yeah, you all probably new that, but oh well, hehe! jk). so, when i'm about to go to bed, i put my dog up, and turn off all of the lights. but i practacly (sp?) run to my bed because i'm really scared. and before i go to bed and i'm on the computer and stuff, every little sound i hear i get soooo scared. for example, i was in the tonight brushing my teeth and i swear i heard loud foot steps going by the door. i don't think it was my parents because they never get up in the middle of the night, but it could have been one of them. but when i heard "footsteps" i got sooooooooooooo freaking scared. should i like stop watching scary movies? or go to bed eariler when my parents do so i don't have to stay up by myself? i don't know what to do, but i'm getting really tired of getting scared all of the time. i really need some help! thanks ppl! <3 <3 <3

ok well maybe you should lay off the scary movies
but hey dont sweat it
this could be a sign of stress or a reaction to staying up late
also hearing things, and freaking out is totally normal
i do it all of the time
maybe you could try going to bed early
and watch some kind of comedy b4 bed
i hope that this helps you out

hey, this is normal. everyone experiences something like this at one time or another. you should go to sleep with the tv on at night. that way it will block out the noises that your imagination is making you hear and there will be light. also by occupying yourself you wont be thinking about the noises, therefore you wont hear them anymore. if you dont have a tv in your room, the radio will do the same thing except then there will be no light. you could get a night light in your room and just use it at night then when your done with it in the morning hide it somewhere so no one can see it lol =].

Hey! =]

I have my fair share of moments like this. Like I`ll be in my living room and I`ll be the only one awake & when I turn off all the lights, my heart starts beating really fast & I always think someone is behind me.

The only reason you hear things is because it`s your imagination, and you`re thinking about it. Like if you weren`t focused on being scared of the dark, you wouldn`t think about like maybe there`s someone in your house, or something. =]

You definitely shouldn`t go to bed when your parents do, especially since there`s only a few more days of vacation! Watch tv, and actually focus on that, don`t focus on anything else. If you get scared, you could always call your best friend or boyfriend, that always helps to calm me down when I`m sitting in the dark! =]

Don't worry this is normal! Sugar makes you a little hyper and will give you nightmares, etc. if you've been having a lot of that. What I like to do, is listen to music, or watch tv and I fall asleep quickly. Sometimes I do my laptop for a while and it makes my eyes tired (dunno why) so I fall asleep quicker. Or maybe read a book. Maybe stop the horror movies for a month and see if it improves. Hope I helped, ask me anything! <3

Don't worry, this happens to me too =] It happened to me the other night because I stay up until like, 3:30. I'll stay in my family room and watch tv and randomly hear sounds. I just go to my room really quick and try to fall asleep. If you have a tv in your room then watch tv or listen to the radio or if you have an ipod. You really don't realize how tired you are unitl you lay down. I would fall asleep at 12 but I get distracted b/c i stay on the computer so late. haha, but yea try not to worry about the sounds because it's probably just your imagination & you're not the only one that goes through this. =]
