It hurts, but only while they do it. It takes like 10 seconds, if that, and then its done. :)

I've had a couple teeth pulled before and really, it doesn't hurt a bit. The shot worked instantly for me and i couldn't feel a thing when they put the shot in my mouth. It was more like a pinch on the inside of your cheek. I wouldn't worry about it and just go along with it. You won't feel a thing, and after you get your teeth pulled you will feel so much better and wonder why you ever stressed about it.

the first time i had my teeth pulled, i didnt even know that there WAS a shot or anything. if you keep your eyes closed that can help. it depends how the needle is put in. ive had my teeth done multiple times and sometimes it hurts and other times it doesnt. it depends where the tooth is and how the shot is done. i dont really want to get into any graphics so not to gross you out. its actually not that bad. just remind the people pulling your teeth that you havent had this done before. be honest and tell them if you are afraid. ask if yo can work out some kind of signal to let them know if something really hurts. that helped me A LOT. it calms your nerves mostly. the pain in getting your teeth pulled is mostly because you focus so hard on something that you feel it more. if you want, keep the laughing gas on for about 30 seconds longer than when your feet feel a bit heavier. it calms your nerves (and sometimes smells good if they have flavors!) and i find that really helps. just calm down about it and breathe. dont focus on getting your teeth pulled. if you close yours eyes, you can sometimes create a whole semi-concious 'dream-session'. its pretty cool i must say. bring a cd player, an pod, or something with headphones to play music. first, as the person taking your teeth out if it's alright with him or her. make sure that the cord is behind/underneath your head if you do this. if its in front, then it can accidentally get caught on something. i hope this helps and good luck! oh and eating something cold helps afterwards. dont do it immediately. do it after the bleeding has calmed down. keep the gauze in your mouth until it has mostly stopped. if you keep changing the gauze, then you will bleed longer than if you hold it there for a longer period of time. bring some gauze from home. sometimes they office doesnt give you as much as you really need, so it helps to be prepared! hope this all helps!

Hey. I`ve had those shots when I got teeth removed & whenever I got five root canals [all at the same time!] So I had five shots in my mouth.

My dentist already had put numbing stuff on my gums, and didn`t tell me when they were doing the shots, so I didn`t know that they had already done it, when they did. I mean, I felt a little nip, but it tickled more then anything. Honestly on a scale of one to ten, I'd have to say it's about a three.

It`s not bad to be scared at all. When it`s over & done with, you`ll be like, "is that it?" It`s not as bad as you think it`ll be. Good luck! & It`ll be fine! ♥

I got mine pulled a month or so ago and thought the shot would be a killer pain. Actually, they put something on your gums to kill the pain, THEN they give you the shot. I thought only my dentist did that, but actually a lot of people I've talked to have defferent dentist, and they do the same thing..

Ask you dentist if they numb you before the shot. If she/he says no, then ask for laughing gas.

Good Luck! :]

don't worry, it's not that bad.. it feels like a little pinch on your gums probably rated a 3. don't worry about it so much & get nervous because then it will seem a lot worse than it really is.. good luck i hope it all goes well!!

MAK answered Tuesday December 26 2006, 10:30 pm:
i would say 3. before they actually give you the shot, they numb the area with this liquid stuff they rub on with a q-tip (which doesnt hurt at all). they give it about a minute to go into effect, than give you the shot in the numbed area, which will numg it even further. that parts doesnt exactly hurt, it just feels extremely wierd: like theres no pain but you feel something piercing your jaw.

anyways dont be scared its not that bad

When I got my wisdom teeth out, they put me under. One of my friends just got a shot, and she said that it wasn't that bad.

Last Friday, when I got mine done, I was crying so much until I was knocked out. It's normal to be scared.

Good luck. I hope all goes well. :)

Razhie answered Tuesday December 26 2006, 10:11 pm:
Part of it is the skill of the person with the needle. Some people are just better at giving shots then others. But by and large, no it doesn't hurt that much. It certainly isn't plesant, but I wouldn't rate it much higher then stubbing your toe on a rock or geting a soccerball kicked at you. It hurts, but it passes quickly and isn't unbearable.

Recovery for dental surgery is really boring and icky though, so make sure you take it easy and have lots of soft foods around.
