The only part that slightly hurts is whenever they give you your shot in your gums to give you your novaccaine (sp) ; but I'm deathly afraid of needles so I probably make it seem worse than it is ; but even though I hate them, it still doesn't even hurt that much ; just a little pinch.
But during the whole procedure, your mouth is very numb and everything, and continues to be for quite some time after your fillings already done with. The only other "hurt" you might experience is sometimes ( depends on you and your teeth ) there may be some sensitivity, which is why doctors ask you not to eat and everything for a bit after it's done. But that goes away shortly.
So basically, you'll be totally fine! Maybe even bring your ipod, my dentists let me listen to mine to distract me while they're filling my tooth.
LagunaBabe answered Wednesday December 20 2006, 11:38 pm: In my opinion, no, it does not hurt. I've had this done before, and believe me, it's nothing to worry about. Just go in there confident, and don't think about anything (that is bad, think about things that are good :) Also, it would probably help you not to look, so that way you cannot see anything. If anything, it will actually tickle a bit. Honestly, it does and that's about it. It takes some time, but it doesn't hurt (mainly) because they do numb you. And if you do feel any pain whatsoever, they will numb you again. So, don't worry, I can promise you that you have nothing to worry about. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
unluckychick answered Wednesday December 20 2006, 10:01 pm: In short, it will not hurt. The only times where you might have instantanious pain is when they numb your gums and when they "push in" the filling itself. Other than that it's pretty harmless.

Do NOT be scared or when it happens you will be all jittery. Be calm and you will do fine. That is my advice. [ irishgal000's advice column | Ask irishgal000 A Question ]
AnonymousAdviceGiver answered Wednesday December 20 2006, 8:31 pm: Quick answer: No
Long answer: No, the only pain I have ever had from a filling is the slight prick of the needle they use to numb you up super well and afterwards when the numbing wears off and I realized I accidently chewed the inside of my mouth to shreds because I was so numb. So don't chew the inside of your mouth. You'll be fine. [ AnonymousAdviceGiver's advice column | Ask AnonymousAdviceGiver A Question ]
