Hey I just got mine pierced about a week ago and mine was bleading right after it was done but she said that was normal.. I was told to clean it with distilled water and salt, non idiozed slat that is... Dont use dial liquid soap!! It contains chemicals that are bad for your inside, and DO NOT YOU NEOSPORIN!! Thats one thing she told me not to use because it traps teh germs and will infect your piercing. Here is the soultion you need to use to clean it, if your not gonna buy the soultion they sell.. 4tsp of non iodized salt for every 8oz of water... Or you can go to wal mart and over where the eye like contact stuff is you can buy " Equate Sterile Saline Soultion for sensitive eyes" It works like every thing else and its ok to use for your navel piercing.. Hope I hellped out! Bye

dial soap..is a big no! i just got mine done too and it got infected.. go buy SEA SALT you can get it at any grocery store and mix it with warm water.. theres no right temperature the water should be warm and comfortable so it doesnt burn you..then you clean your belly button with that. dont play with it or touch it too much unless your cleaning it. Give it time and it will heal.

I got my belly button pierced about 3 years ago, and the process I went through to keep mine clean and infection free went smoothly.

You CAN use Dial liquid soap. That's why my piercer instructed me to use. But ONLY use it while you are taking showers. Don't put anything else on it. The white stuff as well is normal as is the redness. If you ask your piercer, he'll tell you the same thing.

Don't touch it AT ALL unless you are cleaning it in the shower and wear loose clothes. If you get to worries about it, call your piercer and see what he advises.

Don't use neosporin.

Okay, well I have my bellybutton pierced too and I have experienced infections also.

First off, don't clean it with Dial soap. Go to a local pharmacy and buy some rubbing alcohol or peroxide, and bacitracin and some cotton balls or q-tips. It should cost you no more than 7 dollars.

Clean it at least two times every day, spending a few minutes each time. Start by putting some alcohol on a cotton ball and squeeze the alcohol onto the belly ring. Clean it good and when you're finished, put some bacitracin on it. Clean it right before bed and keep the bacitracin on there overnight.

Make sure not to wear a nice or tight shirt when theres bacitracin on it because it WILL stain your shirt! Hope I could help you out and good luck!

It's normal. Continue cleaning it and apply hot compresses to it (not boiling!!) for about 10 minutes once a day to help with any pain etc. :)
Give it a few days, if it's no better, see your piercer.
It should be fine, however.

ImFakingHotPink answered Saturday December 2 2006, 3:08 pm:
First off- you're not suppose to wash it with dial at first. There is a medical soap that is usually sold where you get your piercings done called, Provon and it's the best for piercings. If you don't have that then try going to a drug store to buy it. Also, aside from washing it you have to soak it with salt water, this is what they always recommend you do when you get it pierced. Take a shot glass and pour some lukewarm water in it. Then put some sea salt in it, not too much but enough so it is all desolved. Then tilt the shot glass with everything in it on your belly button and lay down for about 3-4 minutes holding it against your belly button, when you're done take a wetted piece of toilet paper and just clean around it.

It WILL get better if you do this. However, the reaction you got is completley normalthe white stuff is called discharge and it's your bodies way of recognized the piercing.

Start washing it with peroxide a few times a day, and that should get it back to normal in a few days. I also had that problem..
