Believe me first hand I know this stuff is super scary. It is possible that you started your period, because mine was a rusty color when I started. So one thing you need to do is look around your house and get some pads. Wear those so your underwear doesn't get stained. Now your going to have to tell your mom, I know its kinda embarassing but I did it to. This is what I did
"Hey mom I think I started my period today" My mom is kinda weird so she kinda got all hygene happy and went out and bought me pads and tampons. If you have any other questions about this drop your question in my box. hope I helped! xoxo

First, do you have access to any pads? You'll want to wear one to protect your underwear, and probably carry around extras in your bag.
You might expect slight cramping, but a hot water bottle or a light dose of medicine should be able to help you with these.
Your period might be really irregular for the first few months or years, so be prepared for that.
To help educate yourself better - and maybe feel less scared - you might want to speak to an adult you trust, the school nurse, or do some research online (though, of course, be careful which sites you trust!).
LagunaBabe answered Sunday October 29 2006, 4:09 pm: First, and most important -- don't be scared, everything's going to be okay, I promise you. Everyone's periods work differently, some people spot before they start they're period's for good, and you may have just started it.
Either way, I would put on a pad (they're more comfortable, than tampons, plus, I think it might be easier for you to use, since you're just now starting, or getting ready to) so it doesn't get all over your underwear.
I would talk to your mom, she knows all about this I'm sure, so I would explain to her what's going on, so she can help you.
Again, you have nothing to be scared or worried about. This happens to every girl, it's just a part of life. If you need any more help, please feel free to send me a question in my inbox! [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
karisue answered Sunday October 29 2006, 3:14 pm: this could be two things;
[1] you are about to start your period
or..
[2] you've popped your cherry.
usually if you've not started your period yet, you will spot a couple of months, or maybe just weeks before. don't get scared, just tell your mom/guardian. they'll help you out
your cherry can be popped by you running, swimming, gymnastics, dancing, almost basically anything that involves extremely spreading your legs, or stretching them. but once again, this isn't something to worry about either.
xoMarisox answered Sunday October 29 2006, 2:35 pm: That sane exact thing happened to me when I first got my period. So yes, most likely you did get your period. Don't be scared cause it happens to every girl. It's growing up. Just tell your mom about it and she will know what to do. :]
duudee_advicer answered Sunday October 29 2006, 1:32 pm: Rusty as in reddish brown?
This is most likley the beginning.
My first period was the same color.
No worries, completley normal.
missadvice11 answered Sunday October 29 2006, 1:29 pm: Well If it was a rusty color I don't think it was your period. The toilet seat must've been a little rusty and it got on your underwear to. But I don't think you started it if it was a rusty color but to make sure you should make an appointment to the doctors. [ missadvice11's advice column | Ask missadvice11 A Question ]
