Bikini Shaving - Might Freak Guys Out, So Ladies Only

Question Posted Sunday October 29 2006, 1:00 pm

I want to start shaving my bikini area. All of my my friends do but I'm a bit embarassed to ask them this!
You see, I'm just a bit, well, nervous, really about going around my bits with a sharp razor. For the first time, who wouldn't be? So I really need like a step by step guide. I've looked on the internet and I can't find much for teens that doesn't sound scary. Could any of you ladies out there help me? It needs to be quite detailed.

Much Love, FF. xx

i have answered this question SO many times it gets old. not trying to take it out on you, but good grief. next time you ask a question, try checking past questions that are similar and look at their answers.

1. Exfoliate.
- this gets rid of all dead or dry skin, making it less prone to getting nicked.

2. Lather Up.
- soap or shaving cream will do it. either one is fine and works about the same in my experience. make sure not to get it inside of you, just on the insides of your thighs and the top.

3. Trim.
- cut the hair as short as you can get it without cutting your skin. this makes it easier to remove the hair once you start using the razor.

4. Shave.
- use a fresh razor. dull razors hurt 10 times worse when you get cut with them. shave in a downwards motion first to thin out the hair. keep your legs together and hold the razor firmly. then put one leg up on top of the bathtub and shave your thighs and around the vagina. after that shave in an upwards motion to remove all the hair if you want.

5. Rinse.
- use clean water to rinse yourself off. then once you get out of the shower, apply baby powder and lotion. be careful not to get it inside of you, just on the top.

I am a guy, but I have normally shave my self done there and my gf does sometimes, so here is a rough step by step guide:

1. Have a hot bath or shower first to open your pores and soften hair.

2. Use shaving gel(u can see where ur shaving better - no foam!) but not menthol or cooling cos it will sting!

3. Use a clean sharp razor and shave carefully in direction of hair growth using short strokes. Don't go aginst the grain or it will be red and painful when growing back!

4. Wash off and PAT dry do not rub.

5. Use moisturizer when done to sooth skin.

Hope this helps!

I don't recommend this at all, I would recommend waxing before shaving. Of course, they're both going to be painful, but at least with waxing. You don't have to worry about getting cut.

i'm not very sure how i can explain this so i'm not really going to try, haha =)

just shave it slowly & use shaving cream, not soap.
if it gets cut, it doesn't hurt anymore than a razor cut on your leg.

mainly just sit on the edge of your bathtub & spread your legs (haha) its not hard to shave, really.
& it doesn't hurt, i promise :]

good luck with it.

The first thing is, don't do it just because your friends do it. It's not like they can see it and pick on you for it. If they are asking, it's none of their business, so don't tell them. Something like this, you need to do because you want to, not because you feel pressured to.

There isn't a particular way to do it. You just do it and be careful about it. It's one of those things that you have to learn for yourself. Some suggestions would be to trim it first, take it really slow, make sure your razor is very sharp (tiny cuts are better than razor burn in that area), use a small amount of soap instead of shaving cream so you can see what you're doing, make sure you are in a well lighted place, and use a handheld mirror for the parts you can't see. The best piece of advice I have for you is - don't be scared about it! You're not going to chop anything off. Worst case scenario is you get a cut and it heals within a few days. You'll be just fine, don't worry. Good luck!
