well,im really small (4"11) im 13,and i think i'd be cool if i was a cheerleader, because i can help out the team and stuff.but im scared at what people will think, its not that im punk or goth or anything like that, its just that stupid cheerleader label. i HATE it. bleh. but i still wanna try out..im kinda afaid that my friends wont accept me,but i thnk cheerleading will help me meet new people...and have more fun + give me more to do,so,how can i be confident about this? also do you need prior knowledge for this stuff, its only 8th grade...or is it?
XkittyOkatX answered Friday October 27 2006, 7:21 am: Believe me, cheerleaders in most places don't give off that vibe anymore. Actually, alot of the cheerleaders I've met (I'm on a team) weren't stupid, or strictly preps. Explain to your friends what you explained on here, and they'll realize that this is important for you to make new friends, and do new things.
You shouldn't need much prior knowledge. You may want to work on toe touches, or your gymnastics. Make sure your motions are really tight when you learn cheers to try out with. Also, make sure you're really spirited, Get out there! [ XkittyOkatX's advice column | Ask XkittyOkatX A Question ]

I'm a cheerleader, and that's that, once we leave the cheering area, there is no more label. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! [ DD's advice column | Ask DD A Question ]
9BigBrat6 answered Thursday October 26 2006, 10:34 pm: "cheerleader label"? don't even worry about that! when i was on the basketball team like 3/4 of us were hardly even known as basketball players. we'd be like "at practice.." and people would be all "oh yeah, i forgot you played basketball". not very flattering but atleast we weren't labled.
and if your friends are anything like mine and they think it's like stupid to be a cheerleader they'll probably just laugh for a second then something will distract them nd they'll forget about it.
don't let anything keep you from what you want to do, bottem line. [ 9BigBrat6's advice column | Ask 9BigBrat6 A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Thursday October 26 2006, 10:06 pm: IF you want it that bad.. just go for it. you can make better cheerleading friends anyways. Expirience isn't always needed but it will give you an edge. Most girls can do backhandsprings and have some sort of dance background. I am guessing your tryouts aren't till the spring or atleast for a few more weeks. If you can try to get in a few private gymnastic lessons so you can atleast do roundoffs and what not and also picking up a dance class wouldn't hurt either, but it is all up to you [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
