Your friend does not need to gain weight at all. Even if she tried, she wouldn't be able to. If what you're saying is true and she really does eat a lot, then she simply has a very fast metabolism, and she probably will grow out of it. She might not; but there are always exceptions, and you can't base life on exceptions.

Just tell her to eat alot of carbs and calories and not excersize. believe me she will see a change. [ clouded_bluee's advice column | Ask clouded_bluee A Question ]
xxseetheguineapigxx answered Wednesday October 18 2006, 5:59 pm: I personally don't think she's underweight. When I was 4'10 I weighed 86 pounds (I'm a female and I was 12 at the time).
However, if she needs to gain weight, she should eat plenty of WHOLE carbs such as in breads, noodles, fruits as opposed to cookies, chips, other junk foods.
BlackAngel answered Wednesday October 18 2006, 5:53 pm: My guess is that your friend won't gain a lot of weight by eating - some people are just like that. Working out and gaining muscle will help her to gain weight, and, muscle weighs more than fat.
Before she dives into serious working out though, checking with her doctor or a nutritionist wouldn't hurt at all. They can help her devise a plan that combines working out to build muscle with eating foods that will sustain her though her workout and help to develope the muscles.
Good luck to her! [ BlackAngel's advice column | Ask BlackAngel A Question ]

A professional would be able to set up a diet for her that would help her gain weight in a healthy way. Eating more foods that are high in fat is not only unhealthy, but probably won't work in helping her gain weight. [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
