Selling my artwork

Question Posted Thursday September 28 2006, 3:41 am

Hi, I'm a 16 year old girl and I was wondering how I'd go about selling some of my artwork in galleries? Maybe just some small galleries around town. How old do you have to be and how would I do it? Any other info you could give me would be great too. Thanks!

If you get a portfolio together, you could take it around to art galleries to see if they would be interested. You could get some business cards made up and give them out, see if you could display one and a poster at all the local theatres, colleges and large businesses.
You could also try your doctors/dentist surgery and see if they would like to display some of your pictures on their walls with the prices attached. This way, they get free decoration and you get exposure.
Hope that helps and good luck.

You can try selling it on ebay, but what I recommend is talking to an art teacher at your school about art fairs (or fairs in general). Many times there is a student section that you can enter into and you can put your artwork up with many other students, and sell it.
All local art gallaries have thier own specific ages and talent levels that they allow. You'll have to call around.

Well, it's possible to sel your art anywhere. It's not like getting a job somewhere where you must be at least 18 or something. Just go somewhere, ask permission to sell your art outside and pick prices. If you're good, people will buy it

I'm not sure how old you have to be, but you can walk into the gallery and ask the person in charge. Look in a phone book and call up some gallarys, set a meeting so they can see your art work and then they'll probably let you do it.

I hope I helped!

Well, I've tried just Googling the age for selling artwork to galleries and places, but nothing came up. I would probably need to know where you live, because the age could be different for many places, and then I could also try and find some of your small museums around your town and find out their information then. So if you just tell me your town, I'd be more than glad to Google around some more!
