Hi, I've answered some questions and read the other people's advice regarding high school. The thing that shocked me was to see SO many of the people hating HS
I'd actually intended to migrate to the states and attend high school. But anyways, I'm 18 now. I'm just really curious to know bout high school culture and all. I've really enjoyed my secondary school (we call it secondary school in our country)and I really can't picture what is so bad bout high school.Besides, hollywood kinda portrayed HS in a very fun and un-stressful way. So maybe you guys can tell me what's wrong? Perhaps I could give better advice after understanding how HS is like.

As long as you have friends and join clubs and stuff, it's really fun because you get to meet a lot of new people and experience a lot of new things. Some people think high school sucks because they can't keep up with it and make really bad grades, but I'm in all advanced classes and in the marching band and it's really fun. I'm also editor of the yearbook staff, which goes to show that there are a lot of choices in high school. In middle school, your choices are made for you, but once you hit high school you can go a thousand different directions. It just depends on what you want. If you enter high school thinking, "Oh, this is going to suck," then it probably will. It just depends on your outlook. Hollywood doesn't portray high school very realistically, but the funness is still there. There aren't really huge cliques or whatever, I mean certain people hang out with each other, but the cliques don't fight with each other. We just ignore each other. It's just the way it works. Hope I gave you enough info. [ uisforukelele's advice column | Ask uisforukelele A Question ]

Forget what you saw in the hollywood version of High-School, the sad truth is that unless you are popular and pretty, it is not a fun place.
Sorry,

You're sadly misinformed if you think that the way Hollywood represents high school is true...
Pretty much, in my circle of friends we were all preoccupied with getting into post-secondary. We did have parties occasionally, but usually they just involved getting a tub of ice cream and watching movies... none of this drinking and drugs stuff that seems to be everywhere else if you believe Hollywood.
There were the cliques, but really it wasn't such a bad thing. There wasn't the mass clique war thing going on that you hear about... the jocks left the nerds alone, the pretty girls ignored the band geeks, etc.
It wasn't so bad, but it's just an awkward age. A lot of people place a lot of expectations on you, and you're still trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life. That's why a lot of people probably hated high school...
