For some reason, that's the only thing that helps me fall asleep & I'm someone who suffers from an extreme case of insomnia & doesn't take any medication for it. Hope that helped. AmandasAdvice answered Monday August 28 2006, 7:24 pm: hey i read somewhere that your brain needs time to know that youre going to rest; so what i would do is turn out the lights at least 15-20 minutes before you go to bed; and then use that time to lay in bed and think about all of the things you want; that way you won't feel guilty because you will not only get to sleep earlier than usual but you will also get everything off your mind. hope i helped drop one in my inbox if you need anything else!!!
kc answered Monday August 28 2006, 6:52 pm: Happens to the best of us. I get it too. I usually have so much on my mind and think about everything that i am sitting there and can't sleep. like everyone said listen to music and consentrate on the song and the lyrics, nothing else. i also figured out (call me weird) i can't sleep without socks on, no matter what i just can't. maybe you have something like that; not necssarily socks but you know, you can't sleep without something.
orphans answered Monday August 28 2006, 4:27 pm: listening to calming music is a good way, but sometimes it can make the problem worse. perhaps the bed that you are sleeping on is too 'hard' or too 'soft' this can also disturb your sleeping pattern. i have always believed that if you have a relaxing bath (try to stay away from showers as they will wake you up rather than make you sleepy) light some candles generally create a relaxing environment. you can also buy a number of lavender room sprays, these sprays will almost always make you feels sleepy, it is a well known fact that anything that has a lavender scent is relaxing and peaceful
fabulous11 answered Monday August 28 2006, 4:24 pm: The same thing happens to me. Normally i have to lay im bed for hours till i get to seep. Im so use to it now i just get over it. But for you you just need to turn off your mind dont think about anything, especially sleeping. Even though that sounds stupid, but if you try to think about falling to sleep it makes it worse. Just relax even if your in a sopt that your not confortable in. moveing around alot will wake you up more. Or sometimes if i cant go to bed i trn on the tv for a little bit (if you have a tv in your room) Well hope that halps
Volleyball2150 answered Monday August 28 2006, 3:55 pm: This happens to me all the time too! What helps me is I listen to really really calming music such as ocean waves, or rain and thunder, or birds. It makes me soo relaxed. Then what you can do is put your arms back behind your head, stretched out, while you are laying down. then take deep breaths in and out. then bring your arms down to your side. take deep breaths in and out. to get comfortable, just lay in a spot and just force yourself to stay that way for at least 10 minutes. Pretty soon you'll start to fall asleep and forget about everything.
