Braces

Question Posted Monday August 21 2006, 6:00 pm

I'm 13 years old and interested in getting braces. My teeth really aren't that bad and my mom doesn't wanna pay for the braces. But, I would still like to have the teeth on the top of my mouth nicely alined. How much would braces cost if you didn't need them too badly? And also, if the cost is too much, then can you/would it help to just have a retainer, or do you have to have braces first?

I don't think a retainer would work because that only helps your teeth stay aligned after your braces come off, and braces cost thousands of dollars, so you'd be costing your mom alot if you got them. You should try getting invisalign [sp]. They look just like a retainer, but they're made to straighten your teeth and they're clear so nobody'll notice them. But I just went to the site for Invisalign, and it cost around the small range as normal braces do. They say it can start $3500 and go up from there, and that the average cost is $5000. I don't think you should make your mother spend that much money, but that's just my opinion. Suggest Invisalign to her and then go to your dentist and talk about it with him too, if your mother says yes. I hope I helped. <3

hey well i had braces, and i hated them lol but anyways, they are really, really expensive so if you dont really need them i suggest not getting them if they arent really needed also you have to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in line when the braces come off and that also costs a lot too. i think my braces were a little over 4000 and my retainers around 200 but maybe you could try invisiline? they are removable braces you cant see for not - to - bad teeth. you also could just get a retainer to put them in the correct place ask your dentist or have an orthodontist have a look at your teeth and tell you whats best hope i helped a little much luck <3

a retainer just holds your teeth in place so itz for after braces........the lowest price i have found for braces it about 3,800 dollars soo yea, they are pretty expensive and you have to pay like half of it down on your 1st visit. my braces are 4,200 and i have been prices in the 5,000's too maybe you could check invisiline...that might be cheaper. hope i helped

a full set is 5000. it doesnt matter if you dont need them too much, you still have to pay the same amount if your teeth were crazy.

i never had braces, and i dont need them

If you dont need them badly then its really not worth the money. It doesnt matter if you need them badly or not. Braces are braces and its going to cost about the same.

braces cost the same no matter what really. usually around $3,000. Depending on what is wrong you can get just a retainer yes but if there are spaces between your teeth it won't help. But alot of insurances cover braces.

Braces cost the same amount if you need them badly or not. The price would only matter depending on how long you had them on for.

I'm pretty sure you could have a retainer without having to have braces, but of course you would have to talk to your dentist about it first. That would help to align your teeth.

Trust your mom on this- braces are waaay expensive. If you don't need it, a retainer would definitely be the way to go.
