Question Posted Friday August 18 2006, 9:04 pm

13/f.
Im getting contacts in a couple days (monday) and i was just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about them. IS it hard to put them in? Can they actually like slip down in your eye where you cant get them out? how long can you wear them? What will I have to do when i go to get them? Any tips or anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

I remember when i first got contacts. It took me about 2 weeks to get the hang of taking them out. getting them in was a piece of cake, but it wud take hours for me to take them out. don't give up though, because no matter how longs it takes you will get the hang of it. I know they say you cant swim or take showers with your contacts in, but I've done both. the only thing is when you're swimming keep ur eyes closed or where goggles, otherwise your contact cud float out of your eye (which wouldnt be too good). You really shouldnt sleep with them in, but if you happen to fall asleep dont worry about it too much. Your eyes will only burn for a short while and your contacts will feel very dry (its happened to me once or twice).
They cant slip into your eye or anything, although sometimes it mightr get stuck in your upper eyelid, just close your eye and maybe rub your eyelid, and it shud come back into place.

Oh and nu7mber one tip...always make sure your hands are clean and your nails are short...scratching your eye is VERY painful.

I think all of your questions have been awnsered by everyone else but I thought you should hear another take on contacts.

I had them for a month and half last year and now don't wear em cos they just wern't for me. I know everyone says it takes practice to put them in but in my case I just can't do it. I'm not trying to put you off, just warn you that some people just can't wear them and so don't get worried about it if you still can't get them in after a month like me. The best idea is just to try them and find out for yourself. Don't worry about sliping or any thing like that and listen to your optitican and I hope you have better luck with them then me!

At first, when you get contacts you will take forever to put them in. But after a while, you will get the hang the hang of it. They can slip down or up into your eye lid, but only if you are really rubbing your eye with the contacts in. You can wear some contacts overnight, but that is really bad for your eyes and really dries them out, so i recommend just putting them in when you wake up, taking them out when you are ready to sleep.

Contact lens are GREAT! It's easy to put them in once you get the hang of it. They usually dont slip down in your eye where you wouldnt be able to get them out unless you rub ur eyes. In that case you can rub them again and bring them back to the front of your eye. You can do almost anything with contacts. You can run, swim, play sports, etc They even have contacts now that you can sleep in.

Ok contacts are pretty complicated when you first get them but most things are. I just got them last november & it took me forever to get a hang of it. But everyones different. If you arent a fast blinker or whatever you wanna call it like you can touch your eye with out blinking chances are you'll get a hang of it quickly. But when you go into the eye doctor they will show you how to do it properly. I have the ones they show on TV & there pretty good. So chances are you may get them to. & Basically you can wear them all day long, but you have to take it out when you go to sleep cause then your eyes will hurt & turn red. (belive me I fell asleep outside once with them in & my eyes were red for a while). They'll give you solution & probally eye drops to. So when you take them out make sure you clean them the way they show you & then put it in the solution in the case. & Before you put them in the next day clean them again. Basically that just kills the germs or something off them while its the case. & Of course make sure you wash your hands before you touch them because you dont wanna touch your eyes with dirty hands. Hope I helped <3

Okay, there is nothing to worry about, You will get the hang of putting them in sooner or later. The only way they can slip back behind your eye is if you rub them really really hard, but most times you can just blink for a while and they will go back into place. You are only susposed to wear them during the day,and take them out every night. Trust me I have contacts, they aren't bad. if they start to burn when you put them in take them out and add some solution then try again. Always make sure your contact isn't inside out. Hope for the best.

When you go into the office they show you how to put them in properly. you can wear them all day but you have to take them out when you go to bed. they only slip behind your eyes when you fall asleep with them in still. they will give you solution so you can clean them before putting them in your eyes. if you are able to touch your eye without moving then you should be able to get them in because thats exactly what you do.

I wear contacts i`ve worn them for about 5 years now..
You honestly could ask your doctor these questions && he`ll most likely tell you this stuff without you asking..
But i`d be happy to answer anyways..
Putting them in..At first yes it can get fusterating..I actually thought i would never be able to wear them comfortably..But the doctor makes sure you can put them in && out before lettin you leave..It takes practice..I use to wake up a half hour early to practice before school..
I`ve never experienced having trouble gettin them out of my eyes..If you don`t sleep in them or let them dry out you should be okay [[unless your gettin the ones you can sleep in]] just keep them solutioned up!!
The eye doctor will basically check && see how bad your eyes are && fit you for contacts..Nothing painful just a check-up..

Always wash your hands before putting them in!!

I have contacts:
The first few days, it was tough getting them in. However, it gets really easy after that. The eye doctor will let you know how long it is safe to wear your particular brand of contacts.

Here are some tips to putting them in:
Wash your hands but thoroughly dry them, otherwise your contacts will try to stick to your finger.
Don't mix each eye's lenses up, that can hurt super bad.
Be sure to clean them well each night, getting makeup in them can really hurt too.
When taking them out, look out of the corner of your eye, then put your finger, (pointer) to your eye, slightly slide it down then pull out. Your contact you should slide right out.

Good luck :)

Well your doctor should go over everything with you and give you a little lesson on how to put them in. You also should be able to try on a few pairs and see which brand you like best.

At first, it can be hard to put them in but it gets so much easier with practice. When I first got mine, it'd take me like 10 min. in the morning trying to put them in because I kept blinking them out. Now, I can take them out and put them back in in like 2 seconds, sometimes, if I don't have access to one, I can put them in without a mirror. They'll show you how to put them in and if they don't ASSKK!! It'll be so hard trying to put them in with anything I tell you to do.

If they ever slip when they're in your eye, off of your pupil, just close your eyes, look in the direction of the contact, and it should go back into place. But no matter what, you will be able to get the contact out. Once I had a contact tear in half while it was in my eye and it took me a while, but I was still able to get it out. Just make sure to not rub your eye while they're in.

It depends on which kind you get when it comes to how long you can keep them in. I used to have ones that needed to be changed every 2 weeks and I could only keep those in during the day. Now I have day and night ones so I keep them in all the time. Depending on which ones you get, your doctor will tell you. Usually, when you first get them they say to try not to wear them for more than 8 hours but people always do.

When you first start wearing them, make sure you always have solution and a mirror in handy just in case. Oh yes, and make-up AFTER putting them in.

I wear contacts and they really are not that bad. They are not hard to put in at all and everyone always worries about them sliding in the back of your eyelids and stuff but that stuff hardly EVER happens. Most eye doctors tell you to wear them when you wake up until around 7 or 8 at night. Do no wear them for reading or the computer [for fun] If you need them in all day to read, use the computer,ect...dont worry about it. You must always clean them and the eye docter will show you how to do that and she will even help to tell you how to take them in and out. They will take a little getting used to but you can not feel them at all in your eye but if you wear a lot of eye make up[like me] you might have to go and buy different kinds[the eye doctor will tell u all about that]. do not wear them when you sleeep but if you forgot every once and a while it wont hurt.

good luck =]
