Original is now Unoriginal
Well, before the "in" thing was prep. Right? Well, now everyone is like be "original." Now, Original is becoming UnOriginal. I really don`t know what to do. Because I meen I want to be myself, and stand out. Before I was PREPPREPPREPPREP. & then I decided I wanted to become original because I got sick of everything. But, now, everyone wants to be Original, and its like a new trend. Original is suppose to be original!! not a TREND. I really dont know what to do anymore. I just want to be myself. 14/f.

well you cant alwayz go on wat the crowd does you have to be a trend setter be a leader in wat you do cuz that goin me that you whole life you goin wanna be like everybody else an soon enough its gonna get to you an you goin wanna do wat you have to do so just follow wat you wanna follow not a crowd be a leader not a follower

prep was actually nvever really trendy where i lived, it still isnt kinda. like the prep with ribbons in the hair AND pearls is just wierd. (like its ok to wear one, but both on the same day? WITH a poolo?!?!)
when you say `i just want to be myself` that is actually what original `trend` is.
make your own style, like wear ribbons with an emo band shirt that says like acdc or something i dunno

If you want to be yourself, then be yourself. Most people follow trends to fit in, when if people just took a look around, its not how your dress, it`s how you act. If someone was the best dress person in the world but was rude & selfish... they wouldn`t be as well liked as if say they were poorly dressed, but nice, kind & helpful. (if that makes sense).

If you find yourself most comfortable in prep clothes then go for it, if you want to wear skater clothes then go for it.. it is no written down somewhere that tells you how you have to be. If you want to be yourself then do whats you.

Prep, skater, goth :: all those are just names. People shouldn`t use them.. beacuse they are pointless.. someone doesn`t dress a certin way to be "prep, or goth" they dress that way beacuse it makes them comfortable.

Everyone wanting to be original is good, but it`s a trend. Why can`t everyone just dress how they want without being labled ? Be you, dress you, and don`t let people lable you.

Anyone someone dresses, is a trend, beacuse people copy other people and make it popular. If people just did their own thing, and didnt care what other people wanted to see worn.. then we wouldnt have trends. There are people in the world that will only talk to other people dressed like them.. and thats what makes trends.

I`m sick of everything also, I want everyone to be themselves. If all else fails just be yourself, dress how you want, and if someone says something about it, tell them to shutup, beause you are you and there is nothing they can do to change that..

I really don't see any people that are original. It's so rare when someone is really being their self and being comfortable with it.
Being original is really not a trend. People are just repeating what the populars are doing. Not cool or original at all.
Being yourself is doing what you like, being who you are and you aren't afraid to be it.
It's not about what others think or how you show yourself.
Just do what you like to do. If you like to draw, then show people your art. If you like to sing and dance, then go out and randomly do that. If you like to mix up your clothes [different colors] then do it.
Everyone stands out. It just depends on the person. For example, someone that's hyper would notice someone who is like their self. You know? Just because not everyone is noticing you, doesn't mean nobody is.
I guess being original is not trying to be original. It's just.. who you are.
You don't care what others think and you do what you enjoy. You're not afraid to show people this other side of you.
But lately people are trying so hard, everything is so old.
Just enjoy who you are right now.

okay, this is a bit tough. i totally get what you're saying though. and i believe i have an answer. you said that you want to just be yourself. so, that's what you should do. if you want to dress "original" (i actually don't really know what that is but let's just go with it) then do it. if you want to dress in all black then do it. if you want to dress like a prep then do it. believe me, nobody else's opinion matters and nobody else cares about your clothing as much as you do. so if you like something, wear it! you might even inspire some other people to wear what they want, too. i don't exactly have a style. sometimes i dress like a stagehand, sometimes i dress like a prep, sometimes i dress like a nerd... but i do it all honestly. because honestly, that's how i love to dress! and people respect that, believe it or not. so my advice to you is to just be yourself! i mean, you even said it yourself. if you want to dress Original, then go ahead! nobody will care if you're following a trend or not. in reality, people only really care about their own clothing. so just wear what you want! hope i helped!

Well who cares what other people think just be yourself and if they dont like you for who you are then just whatever. And for being original that is not a trend its just the fact that everyone today is actually starting to listen to there parents when they tell them to be themself....ya blah , blah , blah I know but its actually pretty good advice when you think about it! i know! how much does that SUCK?! just be yourself... don't say "oh im sooooo mself and really original" like to everyone you meet/myspace/whatever. just do it. people tell me i'm myself and i'm flattered... just let them notice that you do/wear what you want/like and go from there. no need to change. <3

well don't worry about everyone else. just be the true you. if orignal is what everyone wants to be then let them be. all you need to do is be yourself and set an example for those who want to be original. remember everything starts with you. you are the one that is gonna make a difference in life. so be yourself and don't worry about what's "in"
