Well, I'm home alone alot, with my brother thats only ten, and i need to learn how to defend myself. but i can't take classes because my mom won't have enough time to take me. so, this is my question, can i learn to defend myself at home, with like a knife or something?

thanks in advance♥

well it is better if you go out and buy some movies on self defence and go along with the steps! Also it is a great exercise you will get alot of lower body strength more than upper body strength but that is good to that means you will have a stronger kick to leave the person down that way you can make a fast exit!

do you live near a family video? they offer free rentals of all of their exercise videos. You can maybe get a karate one or another type of self defense video.

you could use a knife, but make sure you keep it AWAY from your brother, becuase that could be reallly dangerous. also, you can buy self eaching karate classes, which are on dvd so you can watch them by yourself

Honestly,
the knife thing is a really good idea.
haha
it's the best way to defend yourself if you're being bothered.
I'd stick with the knife.

You could always buy a video and learn from that. I was watching the Tyra show several weeks ago and it was about self defense. She mentioned that you could learn all you need to know from a video if you get the right one, and you can order it offline if you aren't able to go anywhere. If not just stick to the basics, pepper spray.. knee em in the groin and call 911.. don't try to handle it all yourself! It wouldn't hurt to keep a kife or something where you can get to it easily incase all else fails, and if someone's trying to hurt you are you really gonna need to know how to use it? More than likely it'll come to you naturally, hopefully you never have to though!

Well, don't expect to learn any crazy, ninjutsu, crane style stuff with a knife, but you can still protect yorself, if your real nervous you can get a bolted lock for yor door, when parents are out, keep lights on to insinuate someone is home, keep 911 on speed dial, have some peeper spray, bee bee gun, w/e ready, or hell you can go to a trusted family friends house,. go with basic stuff, believe me, if you spray some punk with pepper spray, not only will you have time to call 911 and give him a few kicks to the nads, you might have time to fix your bro a snack.
Goodluck and dont worry so much, makes life too scary

you COULD try with a knife, but I would do something thats safer for you, (so you dont cut yourself of something like that). Maybe try hiring a self-defence teacher and instead of you
going to classes, make the classes come to you. Do you have a big area in your house to practice? Search on the Internet Self-Defence coaches and find one. I bet you can work something out!

I hope I helped!
