You might have pulled a muscle!
The best thing to do is to put it in hot water, to loosen it up and if that doesnt help , I advise you see a doctor or to get a ct scan to see how the muscle is performing.

ok so you shouldn't stretch before you run...run for a few minutes to get your muscles warmed up then stop and stretch. and then stretch after you finish. you probobly over-stretched it, which means it will take a few days to a week to go away. either that or its an IT band injury, and you should stop running for a while til it recovers (your IT band runs down the sides of your legs).
also, icy hot is not going to heal anything, its just meant as a pain reliever. if you want to actually heal something, you need to ice it for about 15 minutes a few times a day. and if you stretch it, do so gently so you don't strain it anymore.
trust me, i know these things in run cross country and track

icy hot should do the trick. if the problem persists, i'd advise not running for like two days. and then start running again. you could have just pulled your muscle, and you might need to give it time to get back to normal. you might also want to go see a doctor because the problem could be more serious than a pulled muscle. good luck!

I think your stretching is your problem. Don't stretch so much before you run because its just a general rule that you never stretch a cold muscle because it actually will make it weaker and more vulnerable to injury.

You may have pulled the muscle slightly without realizing it, and it's being aggravated whenever you exercise it. However, it's also possible that there's something bigger going on, like a blood clot. You should have it checked out by a physician.
