My mom got me these new contacts: Acuvue Oasys with HYDRACLEAR plus. Well I was wondering about on the website, it said that up to 6 night consecutive wear. Does that mean that you can sleep with them in and not take them ou for up to 6 nights and its like alright to? And my mom got me 3 pair, and said that it was a year supply, but on the website it says two week replacement reccomended. Can they last 4 months each pair?
It looks as if you should first wear them on a daily schedule and then be evaluated by your eye doctor. He can then prescribe an extended wear schedule which would mean with his approval you can wear them for 6 nights continiously.
From what I can read, if you remove them and clean them you do not have to replace them as often. If you wear them for an extended basis, then they are disposable...but it also says this depends the doctor's instructions.
TEENAGExHEARTS answered Friday July 21 2006, 11:59 am: DO NOT sleep in the contacts. even if the site says up to 6 night conxecutive wear, don't sleep in them. they will dry out your eyes and that won't be good. if the website says two week replacement reccomended, then only wear them for two weeks and then replace them with a new pair. so the 3 pairs that your mom got you will only last you about 1 1/2 months. I have a different kind of contacts, and they said two week replacement reccomended, but my eye doctor said some people can wear them up to 3 weeks without any problems. so it is probably the same with your contacts too. bebekiddo33 answered Friday July 21 2006, 11:09 am: I don't sleep in my contacts at all. No matter what kind they are or what the website says. I play it safe with my eyes. Each pair CAN last 4 months IF you take care of them. Don't use ReNu with MoistureLoc cleaning solution because there's a recall on it saying that it's not safe and you could get a severe infection of the cornea. Just for some extra info. :] [ bebekiddo33's advice column | Ask bebekiddo33 A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Friday July 21 2006, 11:08 am: I would not wear then for four monthes.. you can maybe get two out of them but that is the max. and if you plan on wearing them for two monthes DO NOT keep them in for more than 1 night a week. They aren't ment for extended wear and the longer they are in your eye the faster they will no longer be able to worn. So its either wear then for two week and wear them at night or take them out every night and maybe get a little bit longer out of them. orphans answered Friday July 21 2006, 7:43 am: yea, 6 night consectuive wear means you can sleep with them in. but you should only start with 2 nights, because the 6 nights are for people with really unirratable eyes, and most people have sensitive eyes. but you can sleep for 4 nights average, that would probably be fine. i dont know what your mom is talkin about, because they are NOt four months each. contacts normally come in this daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, and 1 year.
