Bad Breath

Question Posted Saturday July 15 2006, 10:52 am

Every morning I wake up with deadly breath and a killer taste in my mouth. Even after I brush my teeth, it's still nasty. I don't know what else to do. Even when I brush my teeth before bed I have this problem. Any ideas on how to fight morning breath? (I had no idea what catagory to put this in!)

Listerine Whitening. It's basically putting bleach in your mouth, really, that's what it contains. But, it does whiten your teeth, and it is a mouthwash as well. But yes, as someone else said, scrub your tongue as well. If you sleep with your mouth closed, you have more bad breath, because the air cannot circulate. But on the other hand, you don't snore, well not as bad.

Good luck

Brush your teeth everynight for about 5 minutes..make sure you scrub your tounge. Use mouthwash and swish it around your mouth for like 30 seconds then spit it out. You could have bad breath and a horrible taste in your mouth because you sleep with your mouth opened. I don't think there is anything to do to help that though. In the morning, do the same thing especially with mouthwash. There is this gum they sell that is kinda like toothpaste(sounds nasty but i've had it before its not that bad) and it improves the smell of your breath and whitens your teeth. You should try using that after you brush or eat food.
Good luck!!

Here's some info. that I got off of a site a while back because I was concerned with my bad breath:

brush your teeth for exactly 2 minutes every night

floss

use mouthwash

Hopefully these will help! :)

Bad breath can be caused by many unseen problems. If regular brushing, flossing, and using mouth wash aren't helping the problem, then it is definitely the time to see a doctor or dentist.

From a dental standpoint, chronic bad breath can be caused by an oral disease, most commonly gengivitis. Once you know you have it, it is easily treated with special toothpastes and mouthwashes and a strict dental hygene routine.

You may need to see a doctor if your breath is very bad. Really bad breath (like something is rotting) can be caused by a sinus infection that has descended into the lungs. It can also be caused by acid reflux disease and other stomach diseases.

So, if your breath really doesn't improve and is very bad, you will definitely want to see someone. Most likely, just a change of toothpaste and mouthwash is in order though.

Make sure you are also flossing and using mouthwash. You might also want to use a gum that is really powerful as a mint...i use trident white...whitens teeth and is really really minty. I hope i helped.

Definately use mouth wash...it helps sooo much!! Also, floss a couple times a week. I know it's hard to do everyday, but tiny food particles rotting in your mouth will make your breath HORRIBLE and if you just floss a couple times a week, all that plaque and food won't be there to stink up your mouth. Also, plaque and tarter absorb into your bloodstream and clog your arteries...it's weird but true. So if you floss you not only will have better breath but you could actually live like 2 years longer. Theres studies done on it
=) HoPe I HeLpEd!

My mom had this same problem. She went to the doctors because NOTHING else seemed to work. They told her that it was because she needed to get her tonsils removed. Ever since she's had this surgery, her breath is much better.

Ways to cure it for now is to chew gum like Winterfresh to get that cool breeze in your mouth.
That's what I do, and my breath is minty fresh all day long!

Try chewing gum during the day and after every meal. Brushing your teeth after every meal is good too. Drink water before bed, nothing else. And don`t brush your teeth before breakfast, because then it`s not doing it`s job.

If none of that works try gargalling (sp?) with listerine for a full minute every morning when you wake up, and before bed. And make sure your using good toothpaste like Colgate or Crest. I think one of them even has a morning breath toothoaste but im not sure =]

Hey there, usually the reason for really bad breath despite brushing is gum disease. I would suggest you visit your dentist (yes I know the dentist sucks!!!lol) if you do have gum disease he can work on your gums and repair this issue.

Hope this helps, good luck

When you brush your teeth at night, make sure to really brush your tongue. Thats where a lot of bad breath comes from. Then do the same in the morning, and use mouth wash a couple times. Chew sugar free gum if you need (if you are going to chew gum a lot, its better to chew sugar free because its better for your teeth)
