Oh, fun braces. I had them for 3 years.. they were.. painful at times. I would take a pain relever (spelling). Something that you have in your house :: IBU, Advil.. something like that. When my teeth hurt I put a towl or a wash-cloth in hot water, and put it on my teeth, odd I know, but the heat helped relex my mouth, and it wasn't as painful. Good luck with your braces :]

Blue421 answered Thursday July 13 2006, 9:35 pm: Ah braces. I just got done with them myself. Before you go into your appointment, take Tylenol. And after the appointment, chew sugar free gum.(or any gum) My friend suggested that I try chewing gum after I have my braces tightened because it relaxes the teeth. If you leave them alone they tend to hurt a lot. If the gum doesnt work, keep taking tylenol (when you are supposed to) and stick to softer foods. [ Blue421's advice column | Ask Blue421 A Question ]

Altruistic answered Thursday July 13 2006, 1:44 pm: Just leave the cut alone and try not to eat too much salty food cuz if it touches the cut, it'll probably really hurt (salt + wound = ow).
As for braces, when did you get them first? I've learned that after a while, the pain from tightening kind of fades away. But as for now, painkillers are really helpful. Also eating soft food that you dont need to chew too much to swallow. Noodles are a good choice for this.
i hope i helped somewhat. it's mostly a tolerance situation. after a while, you get somewhat use to it more. just dont try to chew on anything tough (like steak). [ Altruistic's advice column | Ask Altruistic A Question ]

As for braces, I got my bottom braces on in April and Tylenol is my best friend when I get them tightened =)
