Running

Question Posted Wednesday July 5 2006, 11:09 am

well i'm being told that just doing a bunch of ab exercises will not eliminate the extra fat i have on my lower stomach. i'm being told that i have to do some kind of cardio too, like running. i've always wanted to start running in the mornings or in the evening (like 7:00), but i'm too embarrassed to. i'm 14/f and the only people that run in my neighborhood are adults. i think it is really embarrassing to be the only teen running. and when i do go running i feel really unconfortable doing it. are there any other cardio workouts i can do inside? i really want a treadmill but my mom wont get one. i also have DDR, but it really hurts my feet and i get bored doing it after like 10 minutes so that isn't helping.

thanks!

well, maybe get a friend to run with you once in awhile it really isnt that embarassing. but if you do sit ups and crunches and exersizes like that then you will be getting rid of the extra fat on your stomach. . maybe it wont as fast as if you ran too butyea it will work both ways. try doing about 100- 200 crunches or situps a day. thats waht i do and it works good. hope i helped

wow the same thing happened to me! i was really embarrassed and scared (no sidewalks!!) but once i started doing it, it really wasn't that bad. just do it for yourself and don't pay attention to anyone you come across. chances are, they're probably not too happy to be out there either or just want to be ignored also, know what i mean? i was and still am the only teen that really runs around there and people respect me when they see me going up big hills and stuff. don't be embarrassed... it's good to be fit and healthy! inside you can do tae bo and stuff on tape. <3

Well you could always ask one of your friends to come running with you, cause running is the cardio exercise it keeps your heart bumping. It is the best ways to lose wait I've tried it so trust me it will work. But you must do it twicw a day.

See I had the same problem for the longest time and you want to know what is really cheap it is a exercise video that works so good and it is only like 20 minutes a day and it is just great. It is called Tae * Boe it is really cheap and you could get it at like any store and believe me it really works and there are even different ones so it won't get boring doing the same thing every day.

Good luck,
Hope I helped

I, like you, am 14/f and had the same thing happen to me. I wanted to go running around my neighborhood to get in shape but I didn't want people to look at me and be like... why's she running? does she think she's fat? but i finally overcame that and went running. Every morning I go running and now people are used to it. My best friend saw me out running (she lives nextdoor) and now she runs too. So if you start running maybe you'll be an example for other teens. You can always find another exuse to be out there working out too. What I did was I found a short triathalon race (just for fun, locally) and when people would ask why I run all the time, I'd tell them I was training for a triathalon, and then they saw me as a very athletic person and they have a different perspective. Good luck, and I know how you feel. Just don't be embarassed, it's nothing to be embarassed about once you get out there. It feels good.

Go ahead and run! Adults will be impressed that you took it up so young. You don't even have to do it alone. You can talk to someone and you can be runnung buddies . Hope I helped!

you could try running up and down the stairs or doing laps in your backyard. or you could ask a friend to come running with you every morning.
