What is the difference between love and lust? and how do you really know if a guy loves you?

The only statement to explain this truthfully: "Actions speak louder than words". This is so true, in the sense that you will know a man loves you when his actions tell you so. The different between love and lust is the emotion. Lust is primarily a hormonal based feeling. It goes on hormones, it's all physical. Love is something you feel from your heart & soul. Love is an emotional, physical, and mental binding.

Lust is more a physical attraction. Love is much deeper. If you're already going out ith this guy ask him what he'd think if you didnt want to do anything sexual yet. If he says he wouldnt mind and sticks with ou the chances are it really is love

Love is something that goes deeper then looks it is their personality the feeling that every moment without them just sucks and you can't be away from them and you feel a true deep connection with them. Lust is an sexual attraction someone that you like for their physical aspects rather then whats on the inside. Truely I have no idea how to tell if a guy loves you maybe the way he looks when he says he loves you the fact that he treats you wonderfully and is always there when you need him to be.

Hi, the difference is that lust is feeling sexual desire towards someone, were as love is more about caring and feeling deeper emotions for someone. A guy will love you if he cares and shows honesty and commitment to you. Love is better than lust in my opinion. Daniel.

Well, theres a HUGE difference between love and lust! lust is wanting someone really badly..basically desire..usually sexually. love goes MUCH deeper than that. love is very hard to define..but i think that love is when you care for that persons feelings and always want them to be happy, they make you happy, you enjoy every minute you spend with them(of course if theres a fight going on..thats normal to experience)and you kind of become one with that person.you know you love someone when you think about them constantly and find yourself wishing to be with them.lust, on the other hand..would be like "oh baby i want your body so bad"now THATS a difference..and love is much more amazing of course. guys think of love as a VERY big deal..so if they say the words "i love you" and theyre a sincere person..they mean it. also if the guy always seems very eager to talk to you and always tries to help you out whenver you need it and compliments you often..those are definetely signs of love!! hopefully i helped..im not always the best at wording things but i tried.

Love will last, lust will pass. If you can't bear the thought of anything bad happening to the other person, they make your day just by being in it, and their thoughts and opinions are really important to you, there is a fair chance it is love, but not always. It is a really difficult thing to describe or understand, but you will know it when it happens to you.
Also, despite the advice below that suggests that a guy loves you if he says it, I would dispute that.
A lot of young guys will say they love you to get what they want. It's the ones who say they love you and show they respect you by not trying to get you to do anything you're uncomfortable/unhappy doing that generally mean it.
