Now, I really regret that I cutted myself. But, sometimes I feel like, I still want to cut myself. But, to get my mind off of that topic, I find something too do. Call a friend, play a game, go outside on a nice sunny day to read a book or ride my bike. See, if you go back to cutting, you are risking yourself on being caught. Which, is a good and bad thing. The good part is, you will be helped and treated. Example, you might start seeing a counselor who can help you. The bad thing is, for me, is that I have to go through one day for an hour every week to see the counselor. I mean, I don't mind visiting the counselor, but it starts to get on my nerves. I mean, i'm on meds right now, and I feel good. I don't get those bad days anymore like I use too. But, I don't see why I still have to talk to someone, when there is nothing to talk about. You just have to look at your options and ask yourself,"What is the right choice?" Would it be, Cutting yourself again, which will get you no where good, or shall you avoid cutting? Because, if you do get the urge to cut again, you will look back when you are older and think "Why did I ever do that?" But, if you choose not too, you will look back and say,"Wow, I did the right thing to stop." That's how I think of it anyways. And don't be worried about highschool! Everyone is, so don't feel like your going to stick out because you're the only one who is nervous. Believe me, I'm going to highschool, and i'm nervous too. But, I've already made some new friends there from my summer program up at my soon to be highschool!
If you have any more questions, just reply back. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry you're going throguh this, I know how horrible it is! From experience, I've found the best plan is to reason with yourself. No matter how upset or stressed you are, make a bargain with yourself. Put yourself in control. Here's what you do.
When you feel the urge to cut, say to yourself, fine. I'll let myself cut, but only in 15 minutes. Fair enough, because if you really want to, waiting 15 minutes isn't going to do any harm. So in that 15 minutes, you do something else. And you know all the time that it's ok, because if you still want to, you can do it in 15 minutes time. But before you hurt yourself, you gotta treat yourself, its only fair. Do something you'll enjoy, listen to your favourite band, watching TV, eat soemthing nice, whatever. Just for 15 miuntes. Then, when your time is up, you make a decision. You have 3 options.
a) You cut. You still have the urge, its not going away and you simply cannot fight it any longer. To be honest, I find this doesn't happen that often, 15 minutes is usually long enough to let the urge pass. But if you must, you've made a bargain with yourself, so you can do it now if you want.
b) You don't cut. The urge is gone, your thinking more rationally now, and you know that won't solve anything. Congratulations, go and enjoy yourself, have fun.
c) You wait another 15 minutes. Remember, you are in control of this situation, and this bargain. If you still have the urge, but want to try and wait it out again, go for it. You're in control.
Nallie answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 3:26 pm: People say they cut because it releases emotional pain. Although of course you know that's not the answer. It's wrong for people to look down on you because you have the urge to cut, but honestly they don't know any better, and it will just make you more uncomfortable. Highschool is a difficult time yes, but as kids mature, it gets better. Certainly it's better and eaiser than Jr. High. My advise is to find something (a hobby or sport) that you are really good at and practice at it. This will help build your self esteem, and also be a release for your pain. Best of luck. Helpful answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 3:18 pm: I don't know what cutting is like and why people do it. I'm glad that you have seen that it only injures your body. If you are nervous about high school, just think about alll those other people who are nervous about it. It's not so bad, just another step in your life. You can quote me on that. If you talk to people, you can meet a lot of new friends. Then high school on't seem so bad. Hope I helped! [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
