I'm a 17 year old virgin. I haven't engaged in any sexual activity. I've been with my amazing boyfriend for almost a year and we have had conversations about sex. He's told me he likes when a girl shaves down there. I've never done that! How do I go about doing this before we do anything sexual? I don't want it to get irritated and not look right. How do I make sure it's smooth and what steps should I take?
Melody answered Thursday June 22 2006, 1:03 pm: Ok first of all, if your boyfriend is this 'amazing' then he won't care if it is shaved or not. If you don't want it shaved, then don't. Not only will you not like it, but you will feel incredibly strange. I shave mine, but not because my boyfriend wants me to. He doesn't care what I do as long as i'm comfortable with myself.
But if you do want to shave it, here are some tips:
1. Scrub it down with an exfoliator before you start shaving. This will get rid of any dead skin so there is a less likely chance of getting cut.
2. When shaving, make sure your razor is very sharp. If it's dull, then there is a bigger chance of getting cut. I have a seperate razor especially for this. Once you are ready to start, trim your hair first. Get it as short as you can before shaving.
3. Stand up with your legs together & shave down. Next, shave from the left to the right, & then the right to the left. After this, sit on the tub with your left apart. Shave your inner thighs & then around your vagina. I don't use shaving cream down there. I use soap. For some reason it works better for me. But this is up to you.
4. Remember to be very careful, because the skin down there is VERY sensitve. After shaving, rinse really well to remove all of the soap & excess hair.
5. To keep the area smooth, I put baby oil on the top of it before getting out. Then once I dry, I put baby powder on my inner thighs & around the area. Once I get out, I put baby lotion down there. Just be careful not to get it inside of you. OUCH!
chakra answered Thursday June 22 2006, 12:50 pm: I wouldnt use a razor down there because if you cut your self it's going to really hurt and you'll be left with a shaving rash too.
Use hair removing cream for the bikini area, you can buy it from Boots and other beauty shops), buy a box though, the sachets dont have much int them. If you can, buy one that has a smoothing cream with it too.
Removing cream is much better than any other way because it's easy and painless, it can take a while so i set up the laptop in the bathroom and watch a dvd at the same time, or you could read magazines). [ chakra's advice column | Ask chakra A Question ]
orphans answered Thursday June 22 2006, 2:05 am: something i didnt see on here is it helps to hold your skin taught. it helps to get it smoother and it may help the results last longer, but especially u should be careful your first time it will kinda hurt and sting.
ps if you got the extra mulah to, you should definately get it waxed. it hurts like hell but its worth it [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
mayonnaise answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 4:55 pm: Hi. This is how I've heard many, many other advice columnist, and myself say/do.
1: With siscors (sp) cut the hair as close to the body as possible.
2: Apply lots of shaving cream, so you won't be as irritated.
3: Start shaving downward.
4: Apply some lotion made for the -down their- area.
Just so know, it will itch like crazy for a few days, but then it will get better. Oh, and it might be a little red at first.
barreldreamer101 answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 3:06 pm: Hello, Make sure you put lots of shaving cream on before you shave. After put lotion on like some one else said and if it gets itchy put more on. Or you can get it waxed. You can buy kits at wal-mart and places like that. Hope this helps. Good luck in the future. jealousyxo answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 11:20 am: Dont shave upwards because it will irritate the skin and cause you too have ugly red bumps and ingrown hairs.Shave downwards and dont forget to use lotion after,it will heal the skin and it usually causes you too not be as itchy down there.I thought this website might help you:[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

karlyndarlin05 answered Tuesday June 20 2006, 9:12 pm: dont listen to that other person...nair spefically says not to use it in your vaginal area.
the best way is to either
a. get waxed
or
b.
get in the bath tub and let all the hairs get soft, and your skin too...probalbey around 10 minutes.
first shave downward and then upward. the downward is to thin it, and then upward is to smooth. MAKE SURE to use plenty of shaving cream or you will get cut and irritations.
