does getting your hair dyed professionally last longer than the stuff you buy at the grocery store?
because everytime i dye my hair myself it lasts 2 weeks tops then its totally faded (and you can only dye your hair like every 8 weeks or so)
and i dont want to waste that kind of money getting it professionally done if its just going to fade right away
poetqueen answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 3:37 pm: it costs more when u get it profesionally done because it lasts longer. and it usually doesnt fade when you get it professionally done but your roots will show after a while of course. if you do get it profesionally done dont go to some cheap place go to a nicer place where you can trust the hair dresser. good luck and have fun w/ it! orphans answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 1:37 am: it will definately last longer. but the color locking shampoo and conditioner will help big time. the only thing is the only ones that really work are the expensive ones, but spendin money on it is better than losin money on having it dyed and then fade. good luck! jammy12 answered Tuesday June 20 2006, 9:22 pm: Well the salons use special peroxides and stuff i guess. Actually my mum had her color about 3-4 weeks now and it's luking really amazing. You should use a good coloor like clairol and use a good shampooo! And don't shampoo your hair like every day! [ jammy12's advice column | Ask jammy12 A Question ]
kristen22 answered Tuesday June 20 2006, 7:37 pm: First of all, professionally done colour will last longer. However, if you go to your salon, most have home care products to maintain your haircolour better. Colour will still fade somewhat, but it can be limited.
With salon shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair, as well as a UV protectant, also available at many salons, you should see a big difference.
Also, shampoo with warm, not hot water.
Best of luck to you. [ kristen22's advice column | Ask kristen22 A Question ]
iheartdrumersss answered Tuesday June 20 2006, 4:23 pm: No hair dye is going to last for more than 3 monthes. But if you have the choice between doing it yourself and a professional doing it - go with the professional. The dye she uses is most likely going to last longer than less-expensive store bought dye. Plus she probobly has a better method on applying it and the overall look will just come out better.
