I started using Acne Free about 5 days ago, and since then my face has been itching like a beast. Has this happened to anyone else? It's started clearing my face us, but it itches so bad and dry patches are forming! My moms making me stop using it, is there anything else thats just as good? (Not ProActive, we can`t afford it)
LoveMeDo answered Wednesday June 21 2006, 9:02 am: Did you itch after the first night? It's possible that your skin is just too sensitive to handel it every day. Try applying it every night, or even longer between, as tolerated.

The dry patches are gonna form whether you scratch it or not. I learned this the "hard" way. You should put it only where there is a pimple at, then it will make your face feel really tight for about 3 or 4 minutes. That way you don't have to dedal with those nasty dry patches from it drying out your face so much.
KisaKiss19 answered Sunday June 18 2006, 11:22 pm: acne free is the cheaper alternative to proactive-and i have it-works great for me& i have sensitive skin.this is what i do-i only use the purifying cleanser in the bath tub with hot water.massage in lightly for 50 seconds and then use a wet COTTON swab thingy to wash it off(or dip your face under the water and take it of-wash clothes are too harsh).i only do this once a day.through out the day,if its oily, just put water on it and wipe it off. :) also-if your skin is really really dry-dont use it for onw-two days.it could also be the weather.but it should be fine after that.the itchyness is because of the dryness.try not to use step 2.if you want a new product-i'd get clean & clean black head control (its blue/purple bottle, with dark blue beads in it,and when it comes out of the bottle it should be white) its great-gives you a very refreshing feeling afterwards(kinda like a minty, feeling)you can tell its for sensitive skin when you put it on.i hope i helped-and good luck!

LoveNJstyle answered Sunday June 18 2006, 11:04 pm: heyyy i have this problem with prescriptions i get.. the flaking and itching (the dry patches) are a sign that you need to put some moisturizer on! i recommend curel lotion.. its like the same as the derm prescribed 'cept cheaper. (its like 6 bucks for a huge bottle.) try putting that on and see if things get better. if not, then try some regular over the counter stuff. i personally recommend that if it's in your budget, to try seeing a derm. that will really help. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
lulabelle answered Sunday June 18 2006, 9:30 pm: It was just drying your skin out too much. You could have put a moisturizing cream on top of it and it would still work, or simply take a Q-tip and dabb Acne Free directly on the infected areas individually and not all over your face. Another option is to use the essential oil, "Tea Tree Oil". You can find this in any drug store, Wall Mart, or health food store. It's usually found in the vitamin and supplement areas. This is excellent for acne problems and will dry them out as well. It's has an anesthetic effect and will work the same as Acne Free so I'd dabb it on the infected areas only. Even though it is an oil it can be drying. Good luck to you!
LUSHiiOUSadvice answered Sunday June 18 2006, 9:26 pm: i used to have some pretty bad acne..i tried acne free, and ya it was killer. then i bought this "Clearasil Ultra", changed my sleeping habit [i used to sleep for 6 hours or less, now i make sure i get at least 8 hours], and i rarely get any acne.
hope that helps you. [ LUSHiiOUSadvice's advice column | Ask LUSHiiOUSadvice A Question ]

blue_sunlyte answered Sunday June 18 2006, 8:46 pm: Something similar like that happened to me aswell. You can try using another product like Clearasil (that helped me) but also if it starts happening again, then don't use the product everyday as this dries out the skin more. Using it once every other day should clear up your face and stop the icthyness.
You should also try using a moisturing face cream after aswell just to reduce the risk of dryness even further.
