What is 666? I know it has something to do with the devil.. I'm an atheist, so I don't know what it is and why the heck everyone is so worked up. Can someone please explain this to me?

we are not going to all die on june 6th 2006. 666 is the mark of the beast that will be put unto all people who deny Christ after the rapture. the rapture is when God will come to earth and release our souls from our bodies to be taken into heaven. anyone who is left with the mark of the beast after the rapture will not be allowed into heaven,and will not be allowed to trade goods on earth to keep themselves alive. therefore, they will be destined to die, no matter what- and even the devil cant help them. also, God stated that you will not know when he comes to earth for the rapture- so why everyone is claiming its gonna be this tuesday is insane. if everyone knew what day he was coming back- they would enjoy themselves, and at the last minute repent for their sins and take it all back. 666 is the devil's number. I myself don't believe it has any real significance, although some super-religious people are worried about it since that is the number of the devil. Watch the movie: The Omen for more info. In that movie the son of the devil is born with a birthmark with three 6's.

No ones going to die. If you think about it, there have already been a lot of 666 days. June 6, 1806, June 6, 1906. And so on. This one's no different.

It's the devil's number. And some people say everyone is going to die or whatever on that day. And that would really suck, considering it's my b-day. We aren't going to die, it's like the whole thing with January 1st 2000. It's craziness.

666 is supposedly the devils "number". Everyones all worked up because the world is supposed to end on 6-6-06, since thats the devils number. Its really stupid. People also said the world was going to end on the first second of January 1st 2000, but hey. we're still here. It's just some stupid thing that started on myspace. DOnt believe it. honestly, its really stupid because its nothing to get scared about. suposidly, 6 is the devils number, and becuase tuesday is gonna be 6-6-06, some people are like, omg were gonna die cuz its like the devil. but its not, trust me. the people who say/think that are just superstitious, which isnt neccesarily bad, just means that they think theres such thing as good and bad luck. but really, its just a coincidence. but thats just my opinion. i hope this helped clear things up!

The number comes from the book of Revelation in the Christian Bible, chapter 13. It is describing the Anti-Christ and what will happen during the Great Tribulation.
The end of chapter 13 says:
"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six." (Revelation 13:16-18)
For those who might not know, a "score" is 20. So "threescore" is 3x20, or 60. So the number is six hundred, sixty, and six, or 666.

It's a joke. I'm sure somebody made a site about it and some person clicked it, to see what it was about.. and if you have a myspace.. it MAKES you post a bulletin about it. It's not the devils numbers or anything and nobody's going to die. People think it's funny ..how gullible people are.
