broke invisiline retainers. so scared

Question Posted Saturday June 3 2006, 1:20 pm

oh, so i took my retainers out in school and put them in my pocket. at the end when i took them out there was a crack in it. i put it on my teeth and got scared becaue i'd have to pay for them. well when i went to take the retainers off the crack got bigger and i wripped a piece off. i am sooo scared. my mom would KILL me if she found out they were in my pockets. can someone help me thing of a good excuse? like getting hit in the face with a basketball or anything? is that a good one? ah im soo scared because i heard they are sooo expensive to replace..are they?

Be honest but sparing about it - they cracked and a bit broke off. If she asks you how then you will have to tell her. She may well get cross but take it on the chin and offer to help pay for the repairs. Making up excuses serves no purpose other than to get you into deeper trouble. Good luck.

parents would much rather hear the truth than hear a lie. so tell her what really happened. and apologize. if your mom says she wont buy a new one, make a deal up. like you will pay for some now, and work for the rest.

Don't make up an excuse. Just tell the truth, I had a retainer and it broke and I told my mom. She was mad, but it was worth it. They don't cost that much.

maybe something like, someone ran into you at school, they popped out and got stepped on? I'm not sure waht the crack looks like.

Or maybe you took them out to eat and they got knocked off the table??

Another thing to consider: how bad are they cracked? Are they still doing their job? If they are, aren't Invisalign retainers replaced every couple of months? If they are (sorry I'm not 100% sure about this!) you could wear them (crack and all) until you need new ones, then when you get to the dentist, take them out and be all, "Hey, whaddya know, they're cracked!!"

good luck! =]

Invisiline is really expesnive, so replacing them would probably be about the same price! If you dont care about lying to your mom, most teenagers arent, just say that you took them out...put them on your lunch table at school because they were bugging you. And you accidentally broke them because your lunch tray sat on them and you didnt know. or something like that. Make it sound to where you would actually really do that. She'll still be mad though, just say you'll raise money to pay her back. Like babysit peoples kids, or do chores. Hopefully I helped a little. Sorry about your braces.
