I am a 17 year old male. For almost a year, I have wanted to get into a habit of running every day, eventually getting up to about 5k a day... I need to do it to lose weight, and also because I want some firmer calves. I have issues with it though.
1. I recently got knee surgery.
2. I have a large fear of my calves doing a thing which I've seen male calves do. Male calves tend to tighten up the leg towards the knee, and the thin ankle section goes up about 1/3 of the way... I find this disgusting and don't want it. I want more of the female variety where the calves get harder, yet not shorter.
3. I just can't get motivated for some reason. I can't make it into a habit, and it goes to waste.
How do I start? And what do I do?

as long as your doctor says it is okay to run, then you should be able to. i would just take it easy, work yourself up slowly. set a goal, like, "i'm going to run all the way down the street and up the hill." then try your best to do it. i tend to set a goal and then once i meet it, i don't stop and i expand my goal if i feel like i can. it's up to you waht you do.
and don't be worried about how your calves will look, you won't see extreme results like that unless you stick to it for a long time and you really run hard a lot. [ iSpEaKsPaNiSh's advice column | Ask iSpEaKsPaNiSh A Question ]
