You are taking a disgusting cancer causing agent and inhaling it into your system. Why wouldn't there be any serious side effects? [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
Tulipg17 answered Wednesday May 24 2006, 8:08 am: The main problem with marajuana is not so much medical but the psychological effect it has on heavy users. For example, you may notice people who are know to use it very often seem less intelligent, attractive, more apathetic about everything, and have little money for anything else. Since they enjoy the high so much, nothing else matters at that point. "Normal" people start avoiding them, and noone wants to be like that.
There isn't much solid support for or against marajuana is relationship to disease, but operating a car or any machinery under the influence is very dangerous.
If you use, please use very sporatically. [ Tulipg17's advice column | Ask Tulipg17 A Question ]
karenR answered Wednesday May 24 2006, 1:45 am: Nothing like heroin and acid.
For one thing I have heard it gives you the munchies. So it might make you fat. To moi..that would be a serious side effect. But, not in the same catagory at all. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
Alin75 answered Tuesday May 23 2006, 10:55 pm: It cant really be compared to the hard drugs. What it mainly does is to dull your senses. However, once you stop the effects are reversed as far as I know and experienced.
There is no physical addiction, except of course if one uses tobacco to mix into the stuff. However, the mental addiction (which comes about because u like the high feeling) can be a problem. It varies a lot from person to person. Some people can smoke occasionally and others cant. For me it was a huge problem, one that I could not control in the least. During the time I smoked, Im embarrased to say I even went to my university exams stoned.
Anyway, the short answer to your question is "no". No effects like acid or heroin. However people's views on pot tend to fall into either the camp that treats it like a "hard" drug, and those that say its totally ok. Neither are correct in my opinion. Notso answered Tuesday May 23 2006, 10:52 pm: Rahzie's pretty right on, but one of the main problems with marijuana is that it can lead to harder drugs. That said, not everyone who smokes pot is going to move on to cocaine, but people who use pot on a regular basis might in search of a better high. [ Notso's advice column | Ask Notso A Question ]
Razhie answered Tuesday May 23 2006, 10:47 pm: Honestly, I won’t cite you a bunch of studies, just tell you this: Marijuana will kill you a lot slower then most drugs, you will get stupider, sicker and addicted at a much slower rate, but you will pretty much end up at the same place.
I'm in my twenties now and I see a lot of people I knew in high school who smoked pot heavily floundering in life. Not because they are bad people, but because instead of socializing, joining clubs, improving themselves with books or classes, they are at home smoking pot. It's an expensive habit, so many of them don't have the money they wish they had to travel or learn. Even if they have university degrees, they seem stuck, something is holding them back.
I'm sure there are people who smoke pot casually and lead productive lives, but those aren't the people I know. The people I know aren't living up to their full potential, because they rather get high.
LoveNJstyle answered Tuesday May 23 2006, 10:38 pm: I read about it alot and well in the long run it makes you pretty stupid... and it can ruin your lungs. that's about it. no serious addiction factors... i have a friend who used to and just quit without any reprocussions. i wouldn't recommend it tho. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
