Emmiekiddo567 answered Sunday May 14 2006, 2:22 pm: you might ha ve strep. DONT drink anything with citrus in it(lemon, lime, orange) because if you do have strep it will burn. garggle with warm salt water, eat some honey, take some cough drops that have a special vapor ingrediant used for sore throats, dont talk a lot, and drink plenty of water.you should be better in no time.
oh and if you can get a flashlight and look into your throat with a mirror. do you see white stuff around your tonsils or anything back there? this could be a sign of strep but somethimes is also mistaken for flem ( YUCKKK!) hope everything works out well.

xokristabelle answered Friday May 12 2006, 11:17 pm: Hot drinks (I know it's almost summer but cold drinks will only make it feel temporarily better), especially "hot lemonade" (boiled water, lemon juice, and honey- sounds nasty but tastes fine).
Avoid talking as much as possible- carry around a notepad.
Advil or ibuprofen (ask your parents first).
Other than that, you just have to wait it out. [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]
greeneyedgirl9o answered Friday May 12 2006, 10:38 pm: there are these things that my mom buys me when i have what you have. there like cough drops, but the difference is they have zinc in them, just go to the CVS or whatever you have in your town, and get some cough drops with extra zinc, it makes your cold/illness go away ... and the way you can tell is when your sick they taste like whatever flavor you got, like strwberry, however when you get better, they start to taste kind of chemical/funny tasting! good luck, hope you feel better! See this link for self care at home to get you by until Sunday. If your symptoms get worse, you should go to the Dr right away.
ncblondie answered Friday May 12 2006, 8:58 pm: It might be that your throat is simply irritated from having a cold. If I have a cold longer than a few days, my throat usually gets sore/scratchy as well, which causes my voice to fade. You could try some hot tea with lemon and honey to help soothe it. Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. Orange juice may help as it has Vitamin C which is believed to help boost your immune system. Get plenty of rest to allow your body time to heal. Also, you might try the time-honored trick of a bowl of chicken noodle soup. As soon as I start feeling bad, I fix a bowl of chicken noodle soup and it always seems to help.
