They want me to go back!!!!

Question Posted Wednesday April 12 2006, 9:22 am

17/F
I'm really scared about what my parents are making me do. Last year I was sent to a hospital for manic depression and compusive behavior. I was released two weeks into school. Thank god I had my bf or I would have gone crazy. U see hospitals scare me everytime I go into one someone dies(someone close to me). So when I over heard my parents talking about taking me to a different hospital last week I freaked out. I've stared cutting again and I cry myself to sleep at night. If I didn't have my bf I wouldn't even go to school cause my grades suck.
Someone help me I don't want to go back
I'm scared
Ps
I rate high

See if they will take you to see a counselor instead of bringing you to the hospital. It will be a much nicer, more relaxed setting, and my guess is that it will help you much more, not only because you're afraid of hospitals in the first place, but because it's a mental problem you have more than it is a physical one. Being in the hospital probably made you worse, that's why it took so long to get out. Try to talk to your parents about it calmly. Tell them that going to the hospital makes you worse and you think that a counselor would be able to help you more. If you already have a counselor, my apologies. If that's the case, try to relax knowing that your parents and your counselor probably know what they're doing. Your parents aren't the enemy. Your depression and compulsive behavior are what are. Your parents are just trying to help you. I really hope that you don't have to go to the hospital and good luck!

P.S. You have a really awesome boyfriend to be there for you like he is :)

holy shittoads sweetie, you're not going to like this, but go to the hospital. You are totally wired and need some serious medical attention. I hate hospitals too, but when I'm so fucked up I can't even function properly I'll go to the professionals. look at this in an analytical way:
1. you've got a history of manic depression
2. you are cutting yourself
3. you are showing symptoms of paranoia
these on their own are a full deck to deal with, but combined, you have a serious shitstorm going on in your head.
you're not going to be able to deal with this on your own. your parents are worried about you. so go and get some help.

Wow you must feel horrible but there is no one better for you to talk to than your parents, they will care more about you than anyone on this site. Tell them about your fear of hospitals, and if you have depression and compulsive behavior it would be better to see a therapist.
But my advice for the depresion is to fight back against it, cutting your self isnt hurting anyone but you. THis is making things alot worse, you need to stop and to do good things for yourself because you are worth it. Take a day off to maybe eat right or excercise, or go out with friends. I suggest joining a club or voulunteering. Get out and enjoy life, make the best of it. Depression runs in my family I know how you feel but the only way to make it stop is by taking control of your life and making the right positive changes. Try to raise your grades, dont stress your self over it but maybe you can join group tutoring for school, its a great way to help you focus in school and make some new friends. If you live an active life you will be less likely to feel depressed

If you need anymore advice please feel free to ask, and I wish the best of luck.

PS: If you like you can also email me my email is:

I know it seems real tough right now but things can will get alot better, try and stay positive.

Another thing that might help is keeping a planner, this stop s you from doing things out of cumpulsion. Plan your weekends and for weekdays you can write down your homework or w/e. This will help alot as long as you make resonable plans and stick to them.

You poor thing, you must be in state. Can you talk calmly to your parents about this, and explain how you feel? Maybe if you do need some help, they could find a therapist without sending you to a hospital? You've obviously had a terrible time and they must be worried about you. It's lucky you have such a supportive boyfriend. Could he be with you if you talk to your parents? If he puts his feelings to them as well it may help. It is possible to get external therapy for compulsive behaviour and and most types of depression. You do need to act now before it gets out of control again. If they realise that you are prepared to do something about this, they may give you some control over your problems and listen to what you would like. Best of luck, let me know how it goes?
