Practice on something besides your Vagina. Practicing putting tampons in without your period is dangerous cause it drys out your vagina. Wait to practice on your own vagina till you get your actual period!!!!!!!

That's okay, you can go ahead and practice. Just be sure to take it out immediately. If it starts hurting, don't try to insert it any further. Really you'll be just fine if you wait until you start your period. Just keep some on hand and you can always start with pads, they are much more comfortable in my opinion. I still use them 10 to 1 over tampons and I have had my period for years.

it's good that you want to use tampons because most girls dont at first :)
They are so much easier, less fuss, more comfortable, but you really shouldn't use them if your not bleeding.
When you very first start you should use a pad, just in case because you won't be used to using tampons... I say wait until you have just had a shower and then insert one :) then you will be fresh all day :)
But basically putting a tampon in when your not on your period is so painful because your vagina walls will be dry and it will stick to you ! it happened to me once and I couldn't bare to pull it out for AGES
Sorry if that was long ^ just a bit of info lol

Honestly, I advise not inserting the tampon until your not on your period because it most likely will hurt and it can cause vaginal tearing which would also be painful. I hope I'm not scaring you from using tampons, I actually perfer them but they can cause damage when not used correctly. Like one of the other people said, the blood acts as a lubricant which helps the tampon slide in easily and then of course it obsorbs the blood. But if there is no moisture then the tampon will basically stick to the vaginal walls which is not good. yes practice is supposed to make perfect, but this is one thing that practice is not advised on. So if I were you I'd wait to your period to insert a tampon, and it's not nearly as complex and the instructions sound, but be sure to follow the instructions to reduce your risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrom).

i agree with 'rainbowcherry" but would add that if you do decide to practice use some lubricant like ky jelly. When you're on your period the blood acts as a natural lubricant, meaning it makes the area wet and easier to slip in the tampon. If you just do it without anything it will hurt. Your vaginal area will be dry and you'll be trying to force it in, and most likely you won't do it the right way. I think the best thing to do is study the instructions in the tampon box. When you're period does come, you'll be better prepared to experiment. I wouldn't worry too much about it. When the time comes you'll figure it out. It seems weird and hard at first but believe me, it takes no time at all and once you get it you'll never think about it again. It will just come automatically.

It's okay to practice, as long as you don't leave it in. If you do decide to, I'd suggest using slim, low absorbency ones as you may find bigger sizes a bit uncomfortable.

Putting them in when you're not on your period isn't a really good idea. You're going to be dry and when you take it out it will hurt you so I don't suggest on doing it.

it probably won't hurt you & it'll give you practice for when you need it. you definately don't have to practice though, juss follow instructions. i mean, you could practice w/out it hurting you, but i would suggest waiting until you get it. either way, no harm. you could get irritated at first, depending what type you use. some girls even use pads to start & then switch to tampons. whatever you feel like doing.

-hope that helped!♥
