erythisis answered Monday March 27 2006, 9:57 pm: Provided you have a healthy diet otherwise, diet soda will not hurt you in any way (unless you're allergic to something in it). It is potentially a problem if you're drinking a caffeinated kind and not getting even the minimum amount of calcium recommended for someone your age. Nallie answered Monday March 27 2006, 9:17 pm: I couldn't find any reliable studies on this. You may find information but there would have to be a double blind scientific study conducted to know for sure. Don't just take everyones word for it.
However, remember this quote "all things in moderation" If there is a question, it's best that you don't drink too much of it anyway. Subsitute some of your soda drinking for fruit juice or water. [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]
Erinn_the_bamf answered Monday March 27 2006, 9:04 pm: No but diet soda is extremely harmful if you drink too much. The chemicals they use to make the soda sweet without sugar is very bad for you. It can possibly even cause cancer (scientists are currently testing it on rats). But, this won't happen unless it's the only thing you drink. tasuki answered Monday March 27 2006, 8:59 pm: Yeah. All soda does. You know how atoms of elements go around taking stuff from other elements and forming new ones and stuff like that? Well, the carbon in soda steals calcium from your bones. You'll be fine as long as you only drink it in moderation. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
sizzlinmandolin answered Monday March 27 2006, 7:56 pm: I doubt it. I don't know your age, but you aren't that far away from being done growing. It'll stunt your growth when you're 10, sure, but no so much now. Try to cut down on it though because it's unhealthy for you and can make you overweight. Good luck! t0xicParadiSe answered Monday March 27 2006, 7:27 pm: It's not the diet soda itself. It is all the caffeine in it. Too much caffeine does stunt your growth. Having a can of diet soda once in a while is fine.
