i have been getting discharge for about 6 months, and i asked waht it was when i first started getting it. i was told that it means that i am going to get my period soon. but it has been a half a year and i still dont have my period. why is this and when will i get it? and please don't say, "oh you are so lucky not to have your period don't worry about it it will come when it comes it isnt something you want." because that is not my question. my question is why i haven't gotten it even though i have been getting discharge for a long time, and when will i get my period.

breasts grow
leg hair/armpit hair/pubic hair(hair down there)
hips widen
ur hair gets oily
you get cramps in your stomack (sp?) and in your back
you get a groth spurt like ur feet grow, you get taller etc
period begins

It could take up to a year from the first time you experience discharge before you get your period. Since you've had discharge for about the past 6 months, it should be coming soon, possibly not for another 6 months, possibly next month. You never do know.
And once you get your period it will be VERY irregular. The first year I had my period, I don't think I actually got it more than 3 or 4 times. It's insane. But it sucks to be on it. Well actually it isn't that bad unless you have a really heavy flow.
But anyway, for now I would suggest that you wear pantyliners so the discharge doesn't get all in your underwear because that's gross and it can smell bad too.
Plus they're helpful because if you do start your period at school, at least it won't be completely in your udnerwear and the pantyliner will have absorbed some of it. The first time I had my period I was wearing one, and it was so light that nothing got in my underwear. Talk about lucky or what.
xoMarisox answered Tuesday March 21 2006, 9:14 pm: I got disgharge for 2 and a half years before getting my period. So, it really depends on the person. If you are pretty developed and on the puberty scale of about 4, then you should get it soon. Also, you can get your period around the same time your mom got it. If it's really heavy (your discharge I mean) then you should get it soon. Otherwise, you may not get it for a while. It also depends on your age, if you are 14 or 13, you will get it soon. If your older then 14 you will def. get it soon and if you are younger then 13 then you may not get it for a little. It's different for everyone. Hope that helped some! <3 [ xoMarisox's advice column | Ask xoMarisox A Question ]
sizzlinmandolin answered Tuesday March 21 2006, 8:06 pm: There's no set time when you will get your period. Generally, you'll get it about a year after your breasts start developing and a half a year after your pubic hair starts growing. However, it can vary a lot from person to person. I'm not sure how old you are, but I know people that have gotten it anywheres from age 11 to age 16. The reason you haven't gotten it is because the hormones that cause ovulation haven't been released in your body yet. That's all. There are common signs of it coming that most women experience, but everyone is different and not all women experience them. This is nothing to worry about. Good luck!
