Dizzy

Question Posted Monday March 13 2006, 8:34 pm

I have a slight problem. Sometimes when I get out of the bath/shower I feel like I am going to fall, my eyes change for some reason, and I get real dizzy. This has happened more than once and I have never been to a doctor over this problem because my family doesn't have much money. If anyone could tell me why these have been happening it would be much appreciated.

I'll guess you like a really HOT shower.

Me too and like xumbrellasxforeverx have had it happen to me too.

If that isn't the case then see a doctor. But, if you like your showers very hot, try cooling it down just a little and see if that doesn't help. :)

I thought of something else! If it gets really foggy when you're taking your shower that can make it harder for you to breathe. Open a window or put any kind of fan in the bathroom and that may help too. :)

When I'm lying or sitting down for awhile and I sit up too fast that happens to me. What you should do is, like others have suggested, try using less hot water. After you're done with your shower before you turn the water off, slowly turn the hot water down and let your body adjust to the cooler water. Don't make yourself completely cold, you're just trying to slow down the transition. Have your towel within reach of the shower and try to set it up on something so you don't have to bend down to pick it up. Once you've shut the water off, slowly reach for your towel and wrap it around you before getting out of the shower. When you do get out, move very slowly, as if you are really old or something. If you take cold showers, you should stop doing that if you can. The cold can shock your body too. Good luck!

Oh man, that happened to me too! It was about two years ago and it would happen everytime I got out of the shower. I think it has to do with how warm the water is.. because I used to take REALLY hot showers. Just try to adjust the temperature to make it cooler and slowwwww down. I hope I helped! :)

This most likely has to do with blood pressure. Try to take a slightly cooler shower instead, or shorten the time you are in. I do not recommend you ever use a hot tub because you might pass out (it's possible for anyone to pass out from this in the hot tub if they stay in too long, so if you already have a problem, it's not a good idea). The issue here is that it may be a symptom to a greater problem. I'm not M.D., and I think you ought to see a doctor if possible, but it wouldn't hurt to research it on webmd.com. Also, try not to stand up too fast if you've been sitting/laying down for an extended period of time as it may have the same effect.

Hope you feel better!
