Pregnancy Help...

Question Posted Monday March 13 2006, 8:20 pm

My girlfriend is almost a week past her period, and we're 16 and we're scared that she's pregnant. She doesnt have any signs of pregnancy, but she said she does have vaginal discharge and we're hoping that's not a sign... any help?

CALM DOWN CHILD!! It's ok! Some girls can go two to three weeks without having their periods. I'm living proof! So, don't worry quite yet about it! In fact, the more you worry about it, the more your girlfriend will worry about it, and that will only cause a longer delay. So, just calm down, take her out and pretend that nothing's wrong and hopefully she'll get her period within the next couple days. Just don't freak out about it, try to keep her mind at ease if anything!

Discharge is common anyway so please don't worry about this as it isn't a common sign of pregnancy.

You haven't stated what method of contraception you use but if you use condoms alone, it may be a good idea to talk to her about starting on The Pill, as it is free from her GP and it carried a higher level of contraception than condoms.

The best thing I can suggest is that she either sees her doctor, in case something is wrong or to get a pregnancy test. Usually when a period is late or does not come, it can be caused through stress, diet, an irregular cycle, medicines or any number of other things so please don't worry yet.

Please also remember that while sex is fun and everyone enjoys it because it feels good, it's not something that should be taken lightly as sex will ALWAYS carry with it the possibility of pregnancy. No contraception is 100% effective. If you don't want to abstain, get her speak to her doctor about The Pill and you shouldn't need to worry from that point onwards.

Well having discharge is normal but if your talking about her period then thats already a symtom of her possibly being pregnant..

-Buy a pregnancy test && have her take it..
If it comes up positive then you guys will have to take it from there..

If it comes up nagative then i`m happy for you but be responsible && always use a condom possibly get her on birth control if thats an option..

Vaginal discharge is normal and in no way determines pregnancy.

One week late does not mean she is pregnant either. You guys need to calm down for now because stress can cause her not to have her period too.

Here is a website. It has all the signs and symptoms. It also covers birth control, STDs, and hundreds of other topics that will educate you on the subject.

I will give you the home page and you can explore where you like. Good luck and return if any further questions come up. For now though calm down a little, and try not to worry until you have to. :)

Pregnancy tests don't work until two weeks after the incident. So if it hasn't been two weeks the test won't work yet. If it has, get one right away. Remember also, that your girlfriend is young and her period isn't going to be completely regular. Lots of things other than pregnancy can lead to a missed period including stress. Next time don't just be more careful, be as careful as you can possibly be while you're doing anything sexual and you won't have to worry about this again. If something does happen or there's even a possibility that it did, having her take a day after pill is a good idea. It's effective for 3 days and it can work for up to 5. It doesn't cause an abortion, just prevents egg and sperm from meeting just like pretty much any other form of protection would. Good luck!

Were you protected? If not she could be pregnant. Lots of women have irregular periods, and discharge doesn't nessecarily mean she's pregnant. Dude, you need a pregnancy test.

Hope i helped

Hey um, hint.

If you don't even know how to tell you are pregnant, then there is absolutely no way on God's great earth you should even be having sex, none whatsoever.

So here's the hint. Before she tries it again, she needs to read on the risks and learn how to NOT get pregnant, then she wouldn't have to spend time worrying about something, she shouldn't be worrying about. It's so simple, so think ahead and you won't ever have to worry about any of this.

WorriedAboutLove answered Monday March 13 2006, 9:52 pm:
First of all, did you have unprotected sex? If you did, realize that it is a very real possibility that she is pregnant. Second of all, and possibly more relieving to hear, young women often have irregular periods. This means that it may come early, it may come late, or it may even skip a month. A week is not TOO alarming (though I hope you are alarmed), so don't start panicking. Yet. If you want to know right away for sure, there are fairly cheap pregnancy tests at any drugstore, ranging for about 12$ to $30. Hope the news is good and I hope you don't have to have this worry every month!
