To answer your question bluntly.

Most people, but nature, want acceptance and will do anything to achieve it, which is sad because it robs us of individuality and creates more conformity, and not the good kind. People sometimes need something else to do the thinking for them, and sadly, this "ghetto" look is doing just that.

The best way to counter this is insanely simple. Be yourself and no other. Have your own sense of personality, dress, style, everything is your own and no one elses on this earth. Remember that and you will stick out for sure.

I hope I helped, and this trend ends soon, who the heck would want to look "ghetto"?

-Ryan

You don't have to stick out to be yourself, you know. But if you truly want to stick out...go shopping and buy some different clothes that you like! That's really all there is to it.

I'm with you on this. Same thing is going on in my school, I try not to follow the trend. I died my hair dark brown, because I liked it, not because everyone else was dying there hair that color. I dress from Old Navy, and not Abercrombie or anything. A way you can stick out is wearing something, funky, that you think is cool. Don't let the trendsetters get you. Good luck.

P.S- I suggest polka dots as a funky thing. haha.

I think you should ignore the "in" thing. At our school we dont really have it but a lot of people definately do what you're doing. When you label people you basically disregard their personality. Clothes don't make you the same or different from anyone else, this year was the first year i really realized how stupid it is to put people into categories. Now i basically just do my own thing, it doesnt matter what those kids over there are doing. I recommend it.

Here it's emo. Which I don't mind because I like the music. But yeah it's annoying. Don't want to follow any crowd? Make up a new crowd. Start shopping at stores no one's heard of start wearing clothes that are cute and unknown. Maybe, try dressing from a different era. It would be different.

I compltley agree with you. Our school is like that too...it's made up of preps and emo/punk/gothic people. Why can't people just be themselves and do and wear whatever they want? I agree with you 100%.

wow, lets all conform to non conformity...

lets think, if the crowd is conforming and your asking how to conform to something that the crowd isnt conforming to the best way would be to not conform in which everyone will conform to you starting and ending a paradox.

Weird, our trend is emo. Everyone is chopping off their hair, dying it black, and being depressed.

I think that you should be any way you want to be. Dress however you feel like dressing and that is unique in itself, no one else can be you.

Really? At my school the trend is still "vintage". I like that trend. You get to see what people put together with the simpilest things. Very cute.

I guess people only follow the trends because they want to be accepted. You can start your own trend, but make it very cute. Ignore the ghetto trend. If whatever your style/fashion is, wear it. And if people say something dumb & rude, insult them. :] ♥
