i straighten my hair everyday, and i dont use any special conditioners or anything. Is that bad? i use garnier fructis shampoo & conditioner, if that helps. thanks xOx [♥]
Vikki27 answered Tuesday March 14 2006, 5:31 pm: Well.....it's not great for you hair but it's worse depending on what straighteners you use.
Hair gets damaged by intense heats and if you straighten your hair as regularly as every day without using a conditioner or some form of protective serum or spray to help control the damage, you will eventually do damage to your hair that will take a long time to repair.
Unfortunately, I am speaking from experience. I straightened my hair just twice a week for two and a half years and have had to stop because the split ends have now become so bad huge amounts break off when I brush it or just pull slightly at the ends.
Try to straighten it less often if you can and opt for less damaging mousses instead. Or try using unheated rollers to make the most of your curls. I would also recommend you try using a repairing shampoo and/or conditioner for a while. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle is reputed to be very good. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]
MummuM answered Monday March 13 2006, 10:00 pm: No, it isn't bad, at all. I straighten my hair everyday. But, you should leave it rest once in a while and not straighten it, just so you don't damage it TOO much. ♥ [ MummuM's advice column | Ask MummuM A Question ]
ncblondie answered Monday March 13 2006, 12:14 pm: Anything that involves heat or chemicals on your hair used regularly will eventually start affecting the health of your hair. It can dry it out and lead to breakage and split ends. I would suggest either one of the protective hair products (such as the spray tropicalbaby mentioned), shampoo and conditioner for processed hair, or a weekly hair treatment. If you can't afford those products, there are a few home remedies you can use.
Hot Oil Treatment
Warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil and work through dry hair. Cover with plastic wrap (a shower cap will work) and then cover with a warm towel. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse hair completely followed by your normal shampoo.
Deep Condition Treatment
Work a couple tablespoons of mayonnaise through dry hair. Leave on 10 minutes, then rinse hair completely and shampoo as usual. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
tropicalbabe33 answered Monday March 13 2006, 11:03 am: To protect your hair from the straighteners, you should spray on heat protective spray before you straighten, and use a moisturising shampoo and deep conditioner every week. Hope this helps! [ tropicalbabe33's advice column | Ask tropicalbabe33 A Question ]

thesecondwavex answered Monday March 13 2006, 12:47 am: well, it isn't bad pursay.
but it probabbly isn't all that
healthy for your hair, i mean
you're burning it every single day.
now don't get me wrong, i do the same;
but maybe you should consider buying a
hot iron protecting serum, it's just like
a spray you put in your hair before straightening
it and it helps shield it from heat damage.
bittersweet17 answered Sunday March 12 2006, 11:18 pm: i don't think that there is anything wrong with that. i straighten my hair all the time and i don't have any prolbems. so you should be okay as kong as you take care of your hair. [ bittersweet17's advice column | Ask bittersweet17 A Question ]
