im not sure but i think sit ups r effective. i myself am excercising. i do 15 sit ups and 15 crunches. i lost 13 pounds doing that. also u should go on a diet to make the process faster.

Well if you are doing sit ups that is a great start. i go to the gym and do about 50 on a gym ball and it has definately toned up my stomach. But you must be patient because it does take a while for it to work. you should look on the net for other excersises that are also effective for the stomach that can be done at home. it is worht it all in the end.

They make you strong, but you can't really see the results :)

Sit-ups are great for building a strong core and good endurance... they're a wonderful exercise! They won't give you a six-pack on their own, and I think that's where people get the idea that they're not effective. You need cardio to work off the layer of fat over top of those amazing muscles you've built up in order to really see the results... but you're on the right track ;)
