So today I took one of my earrings and started pressing it really hard against my cartilage in hopes of piercing it. (after sterilizing it, of course!) anyway, I chickened out. I want to know how much it hurts after... I want the truth! going to a profesional isn't an option. Any suggestions, comments, tips? thank you.

I had to repierce on of my ears and it hurt a lo t so i took something.. like an icecube and bit down on it and it helped sooteh the pain. it only hurts for a little bit afterwards. Kathryn answered Sunday March 5 2006, 3:26 pm: Go to claires and they will do it. i dont think you need a signature, maybe. it doesnt hurt ONE bit! just like a big pinch.
lorawhat answered Sunday March 5 2006, 2:14 am: i have 12 ear piercings, all done myself and i did my lip myself too.
the trick is, make your ear completely numb with ice and after its completely numb, light a needle (safety pin whatever) on fire so the tip is hot. have the spot marked where you want it done, count to three and do it all at once. if you go slow it hurts more. it doesn`t hurt going through but afterwards it is a little sore. leave the needle or whatever you use in your ear for a few minutes to make sure the hole stays before you put the earring in.
and make sure you have something soft, like a make up pad or something behind your ear for the needle to hit. [ lorawhat's advice column | Ask lorawhat A Question ]
ThugGirl041790 answered Sunday March 5 2006, 12:58 am: yes gettin it done professionally you would need an adult..Sucks i know!!
Umm It didn`t hurt when i pierced it myself but like 5 mintues later it hurt..
Mine actually hurt for like a month and i could sleep on that side of my face for a couple weeks..
If you do this i`d use ice to numb it [thats what i did]
Clean it everyday and twist the earring pretty often..
Don`t change the earring til it doesn`t hurt anymore..
i pierced mine one time with a little kit at walmart that they sold by the jewelry && it cost 10 dollars.. You don`t have to be 18 to buy that tho && it also comes with earrings so if you decide to like do both sides..
itsz_JESS answered Sunday March 5 2006, 12:22 am: okay i pierced my cartilidge myself and it didnt hurt until like 2 minutes after i pierced it. well thats because i numbed it first and then pierced it. and then the next day it hurt but it didnt hurt that much ..so i suggest you numbing it first and then pierce it because that wont hurt as much [ itsz_JESS's advice column | Ask itsz_JESS A Question ]
xomissnoeitallox answered Saturday March 4 2006, 11:37 pm: i dont think that piercing your cartilage yourself is a very safe and smart thing to do. if i were you i would go to pagoda piercing and get it done professionaly. they are really good and not that expensive. i went there are i was expecting it to hurt really bad but it feels like a tiny pinch for like 2 sec and then its over. but if you do it by yourself it might take longer to get through your ear. cause when you get it done they use a gun. so all i have to say is good luck and getting it done is safer!!!!
Shoval answered Saturday March 4 2006, 10:57 pm: ok, i have my cartilage peirced and it hurts a lot.
DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF. it will hurt like hell, i'm not kidding. you will regret it so much. if you really want one, wear a fake one, they sell those. but trust me, do not do it yourself. and also, it hurt for like 8 months after its still periced and you cant sleep on that side. Vanity answered Saturday March 4 2006, 10:54 pm: If going to a professional isn't an option, don't pierce your ear. That's incredibly stupid. Especially when you obviously don't know what you're doing. [ Vanity's advice column | Ask Vanity A Question ]
