I wasn't sure which category to put this under, so here it is. I got my 2nd whole pearced around january 15th. its now january 27th. ( 2 weeks i think lol ) i got it pearced with these earring in which are not real gold. My ear have been getting 'gunk' on the back of them. My ear are very senstive. I really want to take them out and change them into earrings that will not irriate my ears. Also i got my cartlidge pearced around December 23rd..and i'd also like to change this one. Would it be safe for me to change my 2nd whole now, like take it out really quick and putting in another earring?
naimee answered Saturday January 28 2006, 8:55 pm: As for your 2nd hole piercing, NO. You should not take it out -- not only will putting a new earring irritate it even more, you'll be in SO much pain. Trust me, I have my ears pierced the whole way up and I know exactly what it's like. You've only had your ears pierced for 12 days, which isn't even 2 weeks, and you're supposed to wait 6-8 weeks to take out your earrings & change them. That's exactly what happens, "gunky, crusty" crap will be on the back of your earring, but that's good -- that's whats supposed to happen, and even if you change your earring your ear will still have that gunky crusty stuff on it. Try and turn your earring a few times, and the stuff will just fall off. And NO it would not be safe to take out your cartilidge piercing, you're supposed to wait about 12 weeks, which is 3 months. It's only been one month.
If you really want, go back to the place you got your ears pierced & they'll tell you exactly the same thing, or talk to your mom about it & see what she's says. =] [ naimee's advice column | Ask naimee A Question ]
ratpakgirl answered Saturday January 28 2006, 7:24 pm: I have a problem almost similar. If it's not real, my ears itch, and get /reaaallly/ sore. Mom says it's the earings, and that I should stick with real ones.. so I'll just pass that down to you. :P Hope that helps!

Love_Backwards answered Saturday January 28 2006, 5:57 pm: you should have no problem changing your earring really quickly. just make sure you clean the new earring well and make sure your ear is clean.that could be what is causing the infection. take some rubbing alcohol and clean really well. the gunk could be because the earrings arent nice earrings, since your ears are sensitive, it could be an infection, you should get the infection first before putting in another earring. hope i helped.

jco answered Saturday January 28 2006, 3:08 pm: They tell you not to, but it's not possible for your ear to close up in the amount of time it takes to take out your earrings and put now ones in. just before you take out the bad ones, clean the new ones so their all ready. And before you put them on, clean your ears REALLY well because this may be the cause. I'm sure nothing will happen. Just make sure their small studs like the ones they gave you when you got them peirced. For your cartlidge, its supposed to be six week before you can change them but if you could change those ones just like the other ones, i'm sure they'll be fine to! xoxoxo, i hope this helps!

twistedsister17 answered Saturday January 28 2006, 9:16 am: You have to wait at least a month before changing earrings. I would not change the earring because the skin is very sensitive right now. What might help you though is to turn the earrings with your fingers. Also, go to the store and buy some Rubbing Alchohol if you don't already have some at home. Put some on a tissue or cottonball and squeeze it onto your earring so it goes down in the hole. This will sterilize it and get rid of any bacteria in there. You can also go to claire's and buy Claire's Ear Solution for Infected Piercings.
