What is a thesis statement?? I have to do a project along with a thesis statement and summary. I did the summary but im not to sure if i included a thesis or not. i just thought it was an opening paragraph to the story but i could be wrong.

It's basically an outline of what your paper is about to say. it's like a narrative of your report. the same way a speaker is introduced before their speech, your paper has an intro also. ex. I think ____________(topic) because ___________ (what your first paragraph is about) and _____________ (what your second paragraph is about)
DonutHolez567 answered Sunday January 15 2006, 3:51 pm: A thesis statement is an introdoctory sentence or or paragraph but it is very developed. for example if you were writing it on a book:
In the book *title* by *author* *main character* the main character goes though many changes such as ,*thing*, thing,AND THING.
hope this helps [ DonutHolez567's advice column | Ask DonutHolez567 A Question ]
Sherry answered Sunday January 15 2006, 3:47 pm: A thesis statement is the topic, and two (or more, depending on how many paragraphs you do) reasons why your talking about the essay. It goes in the last sentence of your intro paragraph.
For example "I do not agree with school rules on dress code(topic) because they dont let you express your individuality(reason 1, paragraph 1) and they dont make sense (reason 2, paragraph 2)
KiSSxMYxPEARLS answered Sunday January 15 2006, 2:50 pm: A thesis statement is a paragraph. But the last sentence in the paragraph is the sentence that you're going to talk about it your whole essay..or summary..whatever your doing.
Get it? So just use the summary that you did now & at the end of the summary just add the sentence explaning what your going to talk about.
