However, when I get home from school and usually on the weekend (if I'm not going anywhere) I wear my glasses. Contacts make your eyes suffocate :)..uhh well if you wear them for a long time..(which I don't because it's really annoying when it dries up and aaahh..you know what I mean))
As for your question, I would listen to your optometrist because after all, he knows best. :) You don't want to be wearing bifocals soon, do you?
Here is a site that tells you the bad habits you should DEFINETELY avoid when wearing contacts::
Glasses are better than contacts because your eyes aren't being shielded by a round piece covering your eyeball all day.
And you don't want your eye sight getting anymore worse because that would really suck..because theeennnn you would get like bifocal glasses soon..and that's not very pretty. :) [ mn731's advice column | Ask mn731 A Question ]

If they are getting worse, wouldn't you want to keep them as good as possible for the longest amount of time? Contacts don't let your eyes "breathe" so that's why glasses are better. SwtnTrstwrthy answered Sunday January 15 2006, 11:16 am: I know what you mean, I use to really hate wearing my glasses until I ultimately HAD to wear mine because of overwearing them and was stuck wearing glasses for 6 months. Now, I'm okay with wearing glasses and heck, sometimes I rather wear them then put contacts in b/c it's soo much easier. If you ask you're friends, youd be surprised at to what they say... most dont even really recognize or care b/c it's still you w/ or w/o glasses.
The eyes getting worse faster makes a huge difference espically if you dont like glasses.. You can't wear contacts when youre eyes are to the extreme bad, maybe you could get surgery but that would hurt even worse and still have to deal with glasses for a bit. Soo take care of your eyes now and you'll be okay till youre old and really need the thick ones, lol.
Glasses are better in some ways and contacts are better in others.. Glasses allow your eyes to breathe, cut down on infections, takes less time to deal with if you are always in a hurry, if you arent very "clean" its a better choice.. yet contacts don't get in your way, allows you to feel like they are youre true vision... they both have their pros and cons [ SwtnTrstwrthy's advice column | Ask SwtnTrstwrthy A Question ]
amandax33 answered Sunday January 15 2006, 10:51 am: Contacts are worse especially if your in school. They can rip, come out, tear. Make your eyes water, Yes they get infections like no other!, they collect dirt if you rub your eyes alot. They can hurt your eyes if your in the sun to much. Glasses on the other hand, They sit on eyes, they dont rip, they dont tear, they dont make your eyes water. I know you may feel self consious! But dont atleast glasses are in now. I know people who wear them for the heck of wearing them!! And the they have perfect vision!
greatbrighton answered Sunday January 15 2006, 10:46 am: I started wearing contacts but found them a real pain: having to put them in & take them out + some risks involved + all the other problems like cost etc... glasses are much less of a problem I think
Also you don't want your eyes to get worse faster; it will mean you'll have to wear much thicker glasses (which I doubt you want)
I agree with the people above:
if you feel self-conscious then you should get a new pair - glasses are no longer seen as unattractive or anything; I know people that wear glasses but don't need to purely as a fashion accessory [ greatbrighton's advice column | Ask greatbrighton A Question ]
Advicelady6798 answered Sunday January 15 2006, 10:16 am: If you go out in the sun the sun makes you eyes get twice as worse with contacts then glasses. I have the same problem. He told me that if i kept wearing glasses then my eyes would eventually stop getting worse but if i wore contacts they would keep getting worse and then contacts make you eyes worse faster. Its your choice how you want to do things and you are the only one who can make that decision do whatever feels right. [ Advicelady6798's advice column | Ask Advicelady6798 A Question ]
xOalmaOx answered Sunday January 15 2006, 10:08 am: Glasses are better than contacts for a lot of different reasons. Contacts tend to erritate your eyes while glasses don`t. Contacts can also rip, come out, and do a lot of other things to your eyes. Glasses you can never forget to take out because well it`s common sense while with contacts you can forget to take them out and then you could have to get surgeory. My friend forgot to take her contacts out once and they really bothered her eye and they were getting really red and stuff, and the doctor found out she had a bad infection because of the contacts so she had to get surgeory done. Sometimes glasses are better for the best of it. As for you being self concious about your glasses. Ask you mom if you can get a new pair that will make you feel better about yourself. orphans answered Sunday January 15 2006, 7:57 am: i wear contacts, and have since i was 11. theyre fine, but you may forget to take them out, rip them, but thats pretty much it.
also heres a suggestion: buy dailies, becasue then you can just throw them away at the end of the day. theyre also SO much more comfortable, and better! [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
