Fat?

Question Posted Saturday January 14 2006, 1:01 pm

This isn't one of those am I fat questions.

I'm 5'4 and weight 113lbs. I know I'm not fat or anywhere near there. When I am with my friends, or any other girls really, I feel confident and that I'm the right size. But, when I'm alone I look at myself and start thinking that I could loose a few more lbs. I'll get so caught up in it that I won't even go near a mirror for the rest of the day. I'm not sure why I do this. Any help? :/

Additional info, added Saturday January 14 2006, 2:36 pm:
I don't feel bad about myself when I compare myself to models or what media says is healthy. I feel good about myself when I look at models. It's just when I'm by myself..

Have you ever stared at a word for too long and it started to look like it was spelt wrong? ...Or maybe you tried too long to figure out a math problem and it just wouldn't come to you... so later when you went back to it and hardly thought about it at all, it came out really quickly? Sometimes people just think too much about certain things. When you're alone, you have time to think and become a prisoner of your own thoughts. Add a mirror into this equation, and you start to do some serious overanalyzing of your body. The more you think about it, the more distorted it becomes, like that word or that math problem. It's good to look in the mirror and pay attention to how you look, but looking in a mirror too long isn't good for you. It's vain and obviously doesn't help you with anything. Avoid staring in mirrors for too long at your body and always remember to remind yourself that no matter what tricks your mind plays on you, you are still a good, healthy weight and that your appearance is fine, with or without the mirror. Good luck with everything.

Dear Fat,
Everybody, Everybody, feels self conscious when they stand alone, looking in that mirror. It is so good that you don't buy into the media or feel the need to look like the models. So when you're by yourself, looking into the mirror, look at other things. See your beautiful smile and your beautiful eyes and realize, you're perfect the way you are. Just remember the feeling when you're with your friends, that you're the normal size. You should feel so good about yourself when you look into the mirror, especially knowing that there's girls who are normal size but throw up because they think that are too fat. It's okay to feel self conscious just remember you're beautiful the way you are and not to let the self consciousness come over you.

Then maybe the problem is with your self esteem or intimacy issues. what do you think of your facial appearance maybe that's the thing that's got you down and not necessarily your body. my decision get a new look, maybe a make over new hair style, or makeup, that might boost your confidence and decrease the issues you have with your look.

if you are so concerned about it maybe you should ask a few friends to boost your confidence. if not, when you go to eat something look at it and think if its healthy for you or not. im not saying you should just stop eatting completely tho..that would be really bad. your just a little low on confidence, you should get over it soon. if you need anymore help, instant message me at Crazy4Him107...

How the hell are you fat? Just believe in yourself. Don't let unnecessary thoughts enter that thing between your ears.

I have a suggestion for you that I got from Paula Abdul. Long story, but she was on TV and was talking about how she used to be anorexic and what helped her get through that. I know you're not anorexic, but I think that this can help you a lot anyways. She said that she had a friend trace her body outline onto a large piece of paper and then she'd look at herself from a third person point of view. Looking in the mirror and down at yourself can give quite a distorted image because you see yourself differently than you look at other people. You can't step outside of yourself and look, even by using a mirror. If you can't get the paper, sidewalk chalk should work pretty good too. I've felt this way before too, so don't worry you're not alone. I hope that I helped you and I wish you the best of luck. <3

your self image is warped. just continue to not look into mirrors to prevent relapses. me, i am in a world of hurt anyways, i like what the media considers "hot" girls, but they sound like ducks whenever they speak. guess i don't have a fetish for the foreign languages.

Because you think that you can be a little bit more skinner & be the right size. You should be proud of what you look like. Everyone goes through this. I know i did. That's why i became anorexic..for like..a day! Haha just because i missed food too much & it was driving me insane trying to be perfect. But anways, that's really good that your confident in situations like this. That's tre-cool. Just be confident when you look in the mirrors, too. =)

I think that you should repeat phrases like "I'm beautiful with people and alone", "No matter where I am and who I am with I am beautiful",etc. You don't have to do those phrases exactly but longs as it is something positive.

The more you do this, the more you will start to believe it.

Good for you for being confident most of the time. Thats rare in this day and age. But its perfectly normal to feel bad about your self sometimes. What you should do is start exercising at least 3 days a week (if you dont already). Not to lose weight, but for health, and it will make you feel better about yourself. 20-60 minutes everytime you exercise. Not only will you feel healthier, but it will tone you up. Just do it for yourself, and it will help your self esteem issues tremendously.
