Hi

it depends on the brand of eyeliner, some are better then others. But if you want to use liquid that is the best i think. I apply it to the bottom. What you either do is put your finger on the side of your eye and strech your lid so its shaped like an oval. The apply it to the top rite above the lash. the thinner the better. To apply below then put your finger bellow your eye and pull down. apply it to the rim below the eye and let it dry before letting go..

Well for one thing, have you considered this: are you comfortable with your tool? Do you use liquid or pencil? And are you happy with what you use, brand and type and the whole shebang?? If not, then I suggest experimenting until you find one that is more cozy and suitable to your needs.

And, when it comes to liquid eye liner or pencil eye liner, it's just a personal preference as to which we use. Certain things suit certain people. However, if you ask... chances are that most people will tell you that pencil is a better choice for them. It's a great start for a beginner who is just getting used to it. If you mess up, pencil is A WHOLE LOT easier to clean up and re-do than liquid is. Also, if you plan on carrying it around in a purse or pocket.. you risk the chance that the liquid may ruin [though I don't suggest carrying eye liner in your pocket]. If you DO mess it up, just take a tissue and slowly run it along the rim of your eye lid.. it'll come right up.

Now, the desired effect of eye liner is to create the illusion of darkness just above the lashline to enhance the look of the lashes. To apply it, gently hold your eye lid down, and start at the inner part of the lid [closest to your nose]. Then just simply draw a thin line smoothly and evenly along the top and bottom lid, getting as close to the lashes as possible. If it looks like there is a space between the liner and your lashes, then I guess you just have to thicken the line a bit. Or, if you'd rather have a very thin line, I guess you just have to try again. One last thing, make shore you draw the line all the way to the outside corner.

If you're still experiencing difficulties, don't get discourage. It will probably take some practice -- it took me a while at first too. Now, I have it down incredibly well!!

As for getting it to last long, a few things will determine that. Common sense tells you not to smudge it by touching your eye and screwing around with your mascara. To help prevent such things, experiment with some brands out there. My make up would last for days and days if I didn't wash it off. I put my eye liner on very thick, because that's just how I like it. I do believe that the more you apply the longer it will last. However, that's not always the case. A great deal of it could depend on the product you choose. I like pencil. I'm not very good with liquid, but applying it is pretty much the same as pencil.

And as for products, I think the two best brands of eye liner out there are "Meryl Norman" and "Beautique". "Meryl Norman", which can only be purchased at "The Meryl Norman Cosmetic Studios", is pricey [typically $8.50 - $15.00], but it REALLY IS good stuff. It goes on wonderfully, and stays on all day! On the other hand... I happen to think that "Beautique" is INCREDIBLE!! However, I've ONLY seen "Beautique" at "Sally's". Good news though, it's only .99 cents. TRUST ME.. I would NEVER EVER EVER buy crap make up!!! I get only the best, so please, please, please, please DON'T let this dollar price throw you off - you'd be cheating yourself out of the best product out there!! I'd *PREFER* "Beautique" out of ANY other brand of eye liner on the market!! I could easily go out and buy a $15.00 pencil, but I'd RATHER get "Beautique"! "Beautique" glides on smoothly and REALLY LASTS ALLLLL DAY!!! I CAN NOT promote this item enough!! And if you still have doubts... for only .99 cents.. it's worth a shot!! [:

I'm sorry for the long reply. I get too into these make up questions, but if you'd like further assistance, don't hesitate to ask! Goodluck! :D

Don't try liquid..it's hard to apply and it smudges and gets in your eye.

Try Christian Dior..the best!
Or try Clinique..

I have cover girl perfet point and its not a pencil its like...I dont really know what to call it but its in a plastic thing and you can turn it to move it up when you run out. Its really good I use it and it stays on almost all school day mabye i have to fix it once or twice and I have very watery eyes so it works good.

I dont like to use the liquid one they are hard I always get them in my eye too. You just have to out really little on and put it like a little under your eye not on it if you know what I mean. I dont reccomend it.

As for the eyeliner not staying on long, you need to get a really good eyeliner. My friends use the $.99 cent ones you can get from Wal-mart. But they don't stay on long, I suggest the brand Rimmel. It has really good eyeliner, and from personal use I can say it'll easily stay on for hours. :)

I don't like liquid eyeliner. You have to wait for it to dry and not blink and keep your eye WIDE open otherwise it smears. And if you touch it, it all comes off. :(

I use NYC Eyeliner Duet. There's black on one end and brown on the other. I only use black though. I don't put eyeliner on my top eyelid. I only put the eyeliner on the bottom, and only half of it. From the middle to the far corner of my eye.

It stays on a looonnngg time! If I put it on at 8AM and don't take it off, it'll still be on the next morning. It's faded, but it's still there. It lasts a really long time. I like it.

Liquid eyeliner is a pain in the butt. ;)

Karen answered Tuesday December 27 2005, 1:39 pm:
There are different kinds of eyeliners that you can use. Some that are water-proof and some that won't smudge. I use Cover Girl's "Outlast Smoothwear" liquid eyeliner and it stays on for more than 12 hours and I don't have to worry about reapplying it. An eyeliner that needs to be reapplied every 30 minutes is an eyeliner that you should not be using.

different kind of eyeliner. try maybeline unstopable or liquid. every 30 mins. is ridiculous. if you need smarter ways of applying it, ask someone by you if they can diagnose the problem. <3
