Question Posted Thursday December 1 2005, 12:55 am
I have a coworker that didnt get any shifts for two weeks. I found out that she had been extremely rude to a customer (we work in clothing retail) so her hours were cut back. Well the boss decided to give her two shifts this week and guess what she was a NO SHOW both times!!! Me and the other girls think she did that because she was mad at the boss for not giving her any shifts for two weeks. Either that or she didnt know she had any shifts because she had two weeks of no work. But either way it was her responsbility to know if she was working or not.
My question is would that be grounds for her termination? I have a theory that after she was so rude to the customer that they didnt want to fire her but were hoping she would just go away, and by not giving her any work she would get mad and quit. I was actually surprised they gave her any more shifts at all. I asked if the boss was mad that she didnt show up and they said no.
What do you think?

She probably found another job or was giving this place the old middle finger. Whatever her reason, shes gone for good this time. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

She proboly found a new job and instead of properly terminating herself she went about it the way she wanted--but yes it is terms of termination. poopiepantsgirly answered Thursday December 1 2005, 8:40 am: Well I think that she should straighten up. Being rude to a customer should have gotten her fired. Thats good that she didnt get no work for 2 weeks because if she would have then she would feel more comfortable to do what she did again. MFS answered Thursday December 1 2005, 1:13 am: Yes, that is clearly grounds for termination. To have been rude to a customer... and then not show up to work AFTER that? Yeah, that's begging to be fired. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
