For someone to realize this problem and want to make real steps towards correcting it takes a lot of courage and it should not be made fun of. People may call you self centered or not capable of doing something without realizing that it is THEM who are being self-centered for not realizing how important this new goal is to you. Negative vibes from everyone around you can be tough to handle, but can also be used towards as a motivator to do better. Go on your diet, you will learn a lot of things about yourself and don't worry about outside criticisms. Why not challenge them to do it with you- to get their ass in shape instead of just poking at someone who really wants to. Then you can see who's really laughing when you seriously diet. Learn and grow through this...it develops more than a body..it develops character as well. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
confusedbabii answered Monday November 28 2005, 8:09 pm: no mother should make fun of her child if they told her that they wanted to lose weight. so not cool. you don't have to tell her if you dont want to. just start eating healthier on your own and exercise on your own like in your basement and such. stick to fruits and veggies and crackers and stay away from the junk food. and try n stay away from sugary drinks. stick to water, milk, and 100% juices. hope i helped! yourperfectdisaster answered Monday November 28 2005, 7:38 pm: WELL, I doubt your own mother would make fun of you. That's just cruel. If you feel that you can't trust your mom or you don't feel comfortable telling her things, that's sad :(
Also, you don't necessarily HAVE to tell anyone. This can be totally private. Research some good exercises (or maybe you know some already) and come up with a good exercise plan that fits your needs. Don't over work yourself, though. Eat healthy food (And that also means in healthy proportions. Just because you're eating healthy, doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want!) :) [ yourperfectdisaster's advice column | Ask yourperfectdisaster A Question ]
blondchk32 answered Monday November 28 2005, 6:57 pm: Ok first, neighbor is over weight. She TOTALLY doesn't care. Atleast you do. Thats great. Now talk to your mom, tell her your serious and just say "I am so serious about this and i want this to happen. Please support me." I am telling ya this might work because I know this other girl and she recently did that too and she is 15 and only 156. used to be 189.good luck!* [ blondchk32's advice column | Ask blondchk32 A Question ]

hopelesslyinlove answered Monday November 28 2005, 5:47 pm: When you tell anyone, they should't make fun of you. If they do you should reconsider being their friend. They should be proud of you and respect your goal. You should hold your head up high and have the drive and detication to loose weight, no matter what anyone tells you. alleycatt726 answered Monday November 28 2005, 4:59 pm: Well, a visit to a nutritionist could be good. I think the best way to lose weight though is just to start eating better. I know everyone always says to excersise but that doesnt always work for some people. So just cut back a little bit on the fatty foods like burgers and fries and ice cream, and just start eating 2 more healthy foods a day such as fruit or salads. And just make sure not to eat too much of anything becuase too much isnt good. Oh, and drink water or juice instead of pop and soda. Just by doing that you could lose up to 5 pounds every few weeks. jbdreamer answered Monday November 28 2005, 4:37 pm: Eat healthy. Stop drinking pop and eating junk and fast food. There is no need to go on a diet at your age. You will still loose that extra fat if you eat right. And try some regular exercise.

Altruistic answered Monday November 28 2005, 4:17 pm: The main answer would be to exercise. And eat healthy. Diets are definitely not good ideas if you can't keep to them. If you're determined to lose weight, then exercise and mantain a healthy diet [as in eating a large amount of fruit and vegetables compared to other food groups] and if you dont like exercising, you can just run around your street, get a membership card to a nearby gym and go work out there, there are numerous ways to do small exercises that can help you lose weight. Just throwing out the trash can count as an exercise by walking to the trashcan and back, etc etc. [ Altruistic's advice column | Ask Altruistic A Question ]
